Sky + For Multiroom

Featured Replies

I currently have sky multiroom but only got sky + down stairs. Can i just buy a sky plus box and replace my sky box in my room or do i have to ring sky and get them to get me it and install it?

I recently changed my sky to sky+ using a spare box a mate gave to me. I had to phone the sky help desk to gi the model and serial number of the equipment. I think this may be so they can trace stolen

you need to cables running from sky dish to a sky+ box (if you want to watch one channel)

otherwise plug one in, and ring sky to tell them to activate sky+ on the multiroom card as the card will also need matching to the new box.

2 cables indeed Gonko so you'll need another one. Then you can buy a cheap Sky+ box from me, with an unpgraded 120gb HD where the current ones only have 80gb usable.

do i not already have 2 wires with multi room?

Maybe but in different rooms. Sky+ requires 2 LNB inputs. Your Sky+ downstairs has 2 inputs so with your multiroom that's 3. Your dish can support 4, you just need to get the appropriate cable and run that through.

I can see why this is in Geeks; way too complicated

Basically, each wire from your dish allows you to watch or record a programme. If you had multiroom but still only two recievers within your dish, the ability to watch one thing and record another would mean that in the other room you could only watch either the programme being watched or the programme being recorded. Having four 'pick-ups' from your dish gives the viewer in the additional room the capability to watch one and record another completely independantly from those being viewed/recorded in the main room.

Simples!
