DARIUS VASSELL hopes Bolton will end his Turkish nightmare in January.

Vassell, who will be available for around ?2million, has attracted interest from West Brom but his links with Aston Villa and desire for Premier League football is likely to lead him to the Reebok.

 

Bolton boss Gary Megson has yet to firm up his interest but with doubts over Johan Elmander's long-term future, he is likely to offer Vassell a deal in January.

 

A source close to the player said: "Darius is not too sure about his future in Turkey now. He is looking at all of his options and would consider moving to Bolton."

If his wage demands are realistic then he could be a loan deal. He'd then have the 2nd half of the season to prove his worth in the EPL and we would get the benefit of that.

Elmander has been at Bolton for approaching 17 months and has scored 7 goals in all competitions.

If Vassell was signed and given a regular starting place in the forward line it is unlikely but nevertheless possible he would score 6 goals or less in that time and be worse than Elmander.

Vassell is bobbins. Given the same amount of chances Elmander would put more away.

He has got pace though and would fit in more than elmander.

Can't see a problem with a loan deal. It would be another option.

As a cheap squad player i think he would be a good edition. He is abit like Diouf in a way, does all the running without the end product, but that is what we have Davies et al for.

Last time I looked we weren't really struggling to score goals it's stopping them thats the problem and keeping the ball for more than 2 passes - Vassell is the epitamy of shite premier league footballers - strong, fast, athletic but just one draw back that white round leather thing causes him all sorts of problems - PLEASE GOD NO!

I am using Wikipaedo so may be wrong but... In Turkey this season, Darius Vassell - played 8, scored 2. Contrast this with Ariza Makukulashaker - played 9, scored 8.

It would depend if any of the 4 choices could score goals, Vassell cant and therefore does not fall into those 4

I would rather go for Ping pong's mate over Vassell. Vassell might have more premiership experience but most of it was him being shit. If im being honest I wouldnt go for a striker at all if it was me, the defence needs a full overhaul imo. Id replace all of the defenders apart from Cahill because Samuel is rubbish, Zat Knight is a complete and utter donkey and our two main rightbacks would rather bomb forward than defend.
