Ba On Strike

Featured Replies

They always come across as arrogant twats with no idea about the real world. So, will these Union bods who were whooping and hollering at the strike acxtion result be helping their members when there's no BA & no jobs, and oh, no members subs because they're on the dole. Utter tits!

You're going into teaching right?

So you won't be joining a union then?

Dont get me on that shower of shite either.

Doris teaches, and I resent every penny that goes out of our account to pay her subs. She fucked it off a couple of years ago and was literally hounded by them to rejoin; the shite they filled her head with, it was one step away from extortion and so she gave in.

Her employer is the local authority for fucks sake. She could walk into the Cheif Execs office, shit on the desk, and still not get sacked.

Teaching ain't the sort of job you can do without being in a union in my view

go on, michael

what is it about teaching that means you need to be in a union?

Pretty much one of the things they said to her and I'm at a loss as to why.

The nature of who you;re working with

You're one fecked up/malicious kid away from being accused of all sorts.

And it's more common than you'd thing

No. Why would I change my principles due to a change in career. My memory is still well intact too, as I was pupil in the early 80s. I would like to thank all those teachers back then who prefered to strike than bother to turn up and teach me. Luckily, I still did ok, but I wonder how many didn't.

But if the teachers union is anything like my union, any accusation of bullying, harrasment, homophobia, racism, etc. whether or not it is true, will result in them refusing to assist in any way. I pay ?26 a month union dues but I only pay as an insurance against being killed at work either in a fire or en route to a fire. Other than that, they're pretty much rolling over and allowing the management to rule through fear.

So the Unions only benefit is to protect teachers from kids claiming they've been touched up?

Come on Mick......... :nea:

Principles? What principles?

You don't believe in covering your own arse? Good with that then.

I hope your principles will extend to exempting yourself from any pay deal that the unions will negotiate.

So non-Union members shouldn't get new pay deals?

Never said that.

You bloody did!

Bloody didn't

I asked whether she'd excempt herself. Not the same things at all.

The principle that I will never pay any subs to a Union. It is a free country isn't it?

Hold on a minute, so the pay deals are only for union members? Do you realise what you've just said?

That sounds like the sort of threat those bullies use. Are you a union rep per chance?

Again - that's not what I said. My principles are that I don't expect to benefit from the actions of a union without paying my subs to them.

Free world as you said.

And I guarantee one thing. If/when you snot a kid you'll be knocking at the union reps door the same day.

I'm an intelligent girl & maybe it's just me but I've yet to meet a union rep who's got half the nous & common sense I have. I'm sure I'll be fine both personally & financially going it alone. I'm happy to take that chance.

Personally - maybe.

Financially - you aint going it alone. Subs or no subs you'll be relying on the union for what you get paid. That's a fact.

But I would be happy to negotiate my own deal as I always have done in the real world. I have no wish to rely on those union people so fact or no fact, I don't want or need their help. If I have to adhere to whatever they've agreed, then so be it, but I can assure it is not my choice & I owe them no gratitude.

If in this alternative universe you were able to negotiate your own deal, what the union could get you would piss all over what you could get yourself.

That's the nature of collective bargaining.

I have always negotiated my own pay deals, I care not whether you believe that or not. As I said, I would still like to do that as a teacher, if as you, who seems to know all there is on all things union tell me I am not allowed to then so be it, but to join, pay subs & thank them, no thanks.

Edited by no balls

I meant in the alternative universe where teachers negotiate their own pay. Thought that was plain enough in my post.

Be funny is you could do that as a teacher. You'd get so shafted it'd be untrue.

Then it's a sad world we live in. As I said, for intelligent professionals to have to rely on those union fuckwits goes to show what a state our public sector (and in some cases private sector) is in.

It makes fuck all difference if it's public or private sector. You may do very well at the moment negotiating your own deal, but I guarantee if you went in mob handed you'd do better. That's the reality of the situation

Employers want to pay employees as little as they can get away with. Employees want as much as they can get.

They meet somewhere in the middle.
