Skd On Coyle

It was never up for debate as far as I was concerned," added Coyle. "Kevin will be my captain. "He has been a top performer in the Premier League for so many years, a fantastic player. And he's a fantastic leader and the type of person I am looking for at this club."

that rules out an elmander and klasnic strikeforce :(

coyle out!

I wonder if; were we ever to get Wenger, Benitez or Fergy as manager; they'd also come out and say what a great player SKD was.

One thing for me that SKD is not is "...a fantastic leader".

As a captain I expect more shouting and pointing, that's one thing Nolan was good at.

Is shouting and pointing worth a first tem place and ?1000s in wages a week?

Can't help feeling years of dealing with high balls and being clattered have taken its toll on SKD. Perhaps the change will perk him up a bit- remember his first game as capt. against spurs last year- he was excellent.

Moreover Coyle can't really do owt else other than back him 'till he's seem them play a bit.

Davies has a part to play until the summer.

Its then that Coyle will look to stamp his shape and style on the team and squad.

Wouldn't disagree- at times he has the touch of my garage door.

However against Lincoln he showed what he can do; good run into the channel to help make the 2nd and a good cross for the third.

I just hope he can prove he is more than a battering ram- he's taken a lot of crap (physical and in the press etc) for the club.

Coyle's first test as manager when, starting on Saturday, Bolton face Arsenal twice in three days

Great journalism again from the BBC :good:

If we kick off on saturday it should give us a chance to rack up a few goals start before the Arsenal defence arrive. Not that we need to like.

I think he will be a good player to keep in the squad to bully certain teams but I will be suprised if he is 1st choice this time next season. I think we will have to use him as a squad player. We need 4 adequate strikers to do well in this league and he is good enough to be in that 4 for a bit yet imo.
