i want something different to read so whats the stephen hawking book thats meant to be readable by non-physicists?

A Brief History of Time is a fascinating read. If you enjoy that kind of thing I'd recommed Cosmos by Carl Sagan - very, very good.

A Brief History of Time. I've read it. It's hard going in places but new version of it is a little less heavy on the maths and deals more with the theory. Fantastic stuff, but you might need to reread a couple of chapters to get the full benefit. Well worth it if you're interested in that kind of subject. Really good programme started on BBC2 which is worth a watch and deals with similar subjects. 9pm on Sundays. On Iplayer and hosted by the ex keyboard player from D:ream strangely enough!

Even more interesting was Horizon last night, which showed that Cosmologists are making it up as they go along to fit the data being retrieved. For the existing theories of creation to hold you have to believe 96% of the Universe is made up of indetectable dark matter and dark energy.

I recommend A short History Of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson if you're after something to expand your scientific horizons in a not to challenging way. Its probably my fav read of all time.
