Burnley - Blackburn

Featured Replies

I didn't manage to watch the game this afternoon, but just watched the highlights, i don't think that ref will be getting a game soon, he had a shocker! it's not often i want Blackburn to win a game of football, but that 1-0 win for them is a great result for Bolton[even though i've probably lost my bet with my mate now].

Burnley are really poor, i don't know if they would stay up even if they had Coyle. The ref didn't help them though, Clear dive for the penalty and Blackburn's keeper handled the ball outside the area.

Saying that Blackburn had most of the chances, had a goal wrongly given offside, and then Olsson who cheated for the penalty hit the bar and it went just over the line [another case for goal line technology].

I know Hull caught 3 points up this weekend, but West Ham and Burnley lost, i have no doubts we will finish above Wolves. Could do with Man City beating Wigan tomorrow, and it will be another weekend and another game gone without to much to worry about and just to find out if Samuel actually still plays for Bolton and not Utd.

I completely agree, not even thinking of relegation really just want this season to end as soon as possible then look forward to the World Cup and then see what Coyle does building is own team, 8 points ahead of Burnley, West Ham have difficult games and are in poor form. Wolves have picked up a few points recently, but i don't see them getting more points than us.

We gifted UTD the goals at the weekend, and we didn't take our chances. That's the only worrying thing really, our goal difference is pretty embarrasing but we have been playing quite well. Looking forward to the Villa game, not quite sure which way that will go, games usually finish level at the Reebok, as long as Bolton don't get complacent and start coasting, thinking they are safe then we should be o.k, the players need to give they're all every game, and give Coyle a chance in the summer to improve and get his own players and style, that will only happen if we are in the Premiership, which i 100% think we will be and will be safe a few games before the season.

Not trying to jinx it or ought, but looking at the fixtures, there is no way we are not going to pick up less than 6. We probably won't need that much.

In my opinion the whole ball didn't cross the line. The ref was piss poor though. He seems to enjoy giving pens to them inbred twats but thank fuck they beat the other inbred twats ha ha.

I'm a little confused by that statement, but I presume you mean that you can't see us getting less than 6 points, I've had a look, and I can see us getting just 6 points, which will see us safe. I think that West Ham will turn it around, and Hull will end up bottling it. After yesterdays results, Burnley have joined Portsmouth in taking up the bottom 2 places IMO

Hull will end up bottling it.

Don't think so with Steve Wigley coaching them.

He's the only been there done that man in the teams at the bottom.

Dowie joined Crystal Palace when they were 19th. IIRC they ended up finishing near the top after a silly run of wins.

He did do well initially at Palace, and lifted them from the bottom end of the table up to the play offs, which they won to get promotion. Since then, it's not been so good for him though, he got Palace relegated the next season, went to Charlotn and was quickly sacked from there, on to Coventry which he was sacked from, then onto QPR which resulted in another sacking. More recently, he was Alan Shearers assistant at Newcastle, and we all know how that ended.

Looking at his CV, I don't know why Hull City thought he would be the man to keep them in the division

I went to the game - Cracking atmosphere & a few incidents. Because of overcrowding on the concourse in the Blackburn end they let their fans bring their beers up to their seats! Didn't take too long for the first bottle to be thrown at Brian Jensen & then coins, seats & allsorts were flying around.

Got to say that I did enjoy the Blackburn chants of:

De de de de de de Owen Coyle, de de de de de de Owen Coyle & "Brian Laws is a football genius" followed by "Brian, Brian give us a wave".

Top day out.

Sorry, CWP, my point on Palace was as a reponce to the been there, done it comment in getting teams out of the shit, not the sustaining it. I don't think that's his fort? at all. BTW, I saw him in Tesco yesterday, he was looking rather dapper, bless him, he does try.

Sows Ear / Silk Purse springs to mind (or not being able to polish a turd) - he is one ugly fecker isn't he, or is he not that bad in the flesh?

Did I not tell you this once? First time I spoke to him, I said "you're not as ugly in real life are you?" He thought I was amusing & mentioned he looked better from the angle I was looking at him from. Flipping, cockernee dwarist!

Burnley will go now, and very likely to be one of west ham or hull unless one of the three sides above (us, wolves, wigan) has a nightmare finish.

I dont agree with the statement "i have no doubt we will finish above wolves" - think it will be touch and go to be honest, could go either way. Think their run in may be marginally easy than ours

To be fair to the ref it was a cracking dive, especially from the angle he was looking at it from. It was only when they slowed it right down from side on you see the lack of contact.

Isn't that what linesman are for

Good atmosphere at kick off time on sunday

Rovers were in the ground at 9.30am but could booze from then until kick off

Burnley were poor, lack of creativity plus

a decreased work ethic, motivation and general team togetherness (this has been clear since the departure of Coyle or more since Laws arrived)

Players are being played out of position and the team selection is changed every week

Yes Laws is shite but anyone in his position would have taken the job, Its the chairman who got it wrong!

Good bit of goading on the main rd outside the ground after but the dogs had not been fed for a month and the bill were knicking anyone close

For all the hype I thought it was shite!
