For yonks i have stuck by R1, i dont know if its my age or owt, but i just cant listen to the bilge whats pummeled out on that station anymore. I am all for new music, tastes and trends but i cant be bothered anymore, so i listen to Classic Rock, XFM and Galaxy. Might get repetitive ads every tune, but at least i can identify with the music.

R1 went down hill when the Hairy Cornflake left and the summer roadshows were canx. R5, Rock Radio, TalkShite and Absolute are my listening preferences.

I fell out with R1 when Mark & Lard jumped before they were pushed.

 

Rock radio & Radio 2 now, dunno if I'm getting old, but Ken Bruce makes me chuckle (like owd duffers do) and has a bloody good pop quiz at 10.30 every weekday morning. Jeremy Vine is excellent for current affairs at lunchtime.

 

Rock radio can get a bit repetititititive sometimes (see what I did there?) but still plays some excellent tunage, from all around the world which we call ROCK!!!!

 

(You have to say the ROCK!! in a falsetto screech, a bit like Gene Simmons out of t'Kiss band, or whatsisname out of t'Darkness band. Justin thingy, thats him.)

Internet Radio

Radio 4 for me I'm afraid to drift past one's ears, plus I subscribe to one or two of their free podcasts. 198 LW when the test match is on. Other than that it will be 5 live, unless it's Richard 'Cunt' Bacon or that twat who used to edit the Daily Sport. On the rare occasions I turn the radio on for music it's Radio 6, appn they've gained a million listeners since it was announced they were shutting it down, so perhaps it will stay. As for Radio 1 , I'd honestly sooner listen to the sound of my own mother being murdered halfway through going down on my wife.

Think your selfs lucky radio 1 is the only thing you can pick up down here.

The quality of music on Rock radio makes up for the irritating adverts.

 

During the day the only thing that makes R1 bearable most of the time is the no adverts but hearing the same 10 songs on a loop interspersed with inane chatter gets on my wick at daft o'clock in the morning the Rock show and the Lock up are fandabidozy!

Agreed - 6 music is about as good as it gets nowadays.

 

If you've got internet radio then Triple J and Triple R are good Aussie stations to listen to if you like Indie/Alternative. You had to put up with the inflection in their voices rising at the end of every sentance - but the tunes are good!
