  • I would fooking love to have been beaten by Burnley.

  • We haven't said we play in white shirts and our reserve goalie's a ginge yet, either.   That's coz everyone knows.

  • As someone who didn't get involved in the Megson whining, I didn't care if he put out a weak team last season either. We have a small percentage of top nothc Prem players compared to the big boys, we

its not just serious injuries

its bumps, bruises, general tiredness, bookings

maybe all the premier league managers are wrong and a few blokes on the internet know better

Its not a matter of right and wrong i dont think.

To the manager there job is dependent on premier league cash and survival. Unfortunately for us as fans, who'd want a cup run, the league cup isnt a priority.

One thing i did notice though - Birm fair few first team (despite playing mk dons), Stoke - strong team played . Everton team was quite strong too. As one of my mates said, they mustnt be worried about relegation/getting an injury and potentially costing you league status. Both their managers must believe theyve nothing to worry about in the league. Our heirarchy can say what they want about aiming for top half etc but the only reason you rest players in the leagye cup is if youve bigger fish to fry (man u arseanl city liverpool spurs city etc) or youre worried about relegation. Us lot sending out reserves says we're worried about maintaining status in my view

That's what's odd about all this though, Cas.

Managers at Championship, League 1 & League 2 levels are experienced managers but very few accept this theory of 'resting' or 'protecting' players whenever they get half a chance. And their League season is 46 matches.

Anyway, if a club won't or can't take the cups seriously, it's up to the fans to vote with their feet for those games.

could it be that Coyle did want to win but it was the players who didn't take it as serious or weren't up for it on the night?

or burnley just played better on the night?

im pretty sure all managers want to win games, but they can still prioritise.

and of course, players want to win some games more than others.

lower league teams are always gonna be more up for such a game, especially against an old manager.

everything was against us and we (manager and players) werent professional enough to deal with it.

as ive already said, under another certain manager, rightly or wrongly all hell would have broken loose.
