  • I would fooking love to have been beaten by Burnley.

  • We haven't said we play in white shirts and our reserve goalie's a ginge yet, either.   That's coz everyone knows.

suppose so but if those squad players put in such and insipid performance when given the chance then it doesn't bode well for if OC needs to use them in the 1st XI

It's fair to say i'm not happy about last nights result or performance and i guess i've got the benefit of hindsight and had the players OC picked done the business then i wouldn't be complaining about his selections but I would've liked us to have played a full strength side and gone for it.

I agree the performance was not up to it but it but I think that's as much to do with the fact coyles not had chance to bring in as many players as he would have liked in the summer but 4 of his signings were playing if you include Klasnic and we could fire long balls at Klasnic all day long and he'll not score - i couldn't make it last night whcih was gutting but is Tyrone Mears a better player than Steinnsson, I've always tthought he'd add to our squad???

Atmosphere was cracking. Barmaids at the Cricket club were mucky. Game was shite and missed their goal.

How much did we pay for that left back? He has a lot to learn.

Liked Rodrigo, he has potential. M.Davies played well.

Why do we carry on lumping the ball forward when it's not working?

Heading back to the car after match, walked up past the Cricket pitch and my mate got butted by some tit in a shell suit. Police bird driving a horse managed to disperse it before it went off, proper intimidating.

The land that time forgot.

Three points against the scum and all is well.

Klasnic is Tony Philliskirk for the modern age. He'll score bagfuls given the chances but he's not going to jump or run for balls, and Robbie Blake isn't David Reeves.

I couldn't agree more.

I would imagine Coyle will play his stronger teams in the FA Cup.

Then your imagination is running riot, Athy.

Without a guarantee that we'll field the 1st team(less a maximum 2-3 players needing a rest), whatever the opposition, I won't be going.

Lancashire Evening Telegraph needs a good think this morning. Seemed to be on a mission to build up hostility in the last couple of weeks. Would have been interesting to read its reaction if something did kick off in the ground.

Well at least he knows now

As per the previous poster - you really don't know that in a reserve game against 17 year old in front of 200 people

wheres gardner ??

did he even make the bench ?

"Where the f*ck is Super Kev?" Jesus wept when that chant started it we're embarassing..

Any point supporting BWFC when our main ambition is to stay in the premier league every season?

Better than the days when ambition was getting out of division 4 and pulling in a crowd of 4k.

Thing is though were competing in a division we will never win, least we have a chance in the cups, its superb playing in the Prem but it does become tedious if it is the be all and end all.

We didn't win the 4th division either.

Good point :D

We're not in division four though, and i dont think we should use that as excuse for being happy as we are. We've been in the league for ten years now, we should be at least trying in the cups. I could understand Blackpool/West Brom sending out the 2nd string in this competition but not us.

big clubs challenging for honours also send out reserves though.

in fact doesnt every prem team?

nonsense cup, get it scrapped.

Do you need anyone to answer that? If ambition was the main criteria for our support then a lot more would have fallen by the wayside since we got up into the Prem in 2001.

Every cup game we've lost was because we lacked ambition. UEFA, FA and Carling. Most of the games we lost were games we could and should have won.

We support because that's the way we were brought up. Nowadays Bolton has a battle on its hands to gain the support of local kids whose heads are being turned by any one of the big 4 or 5 clubs. I don't recall, during my formative years, anyone supporting Arsenal or Chelsea from up here in Bolton.

I'd hate the Carling Cup to be scrapped - it represents our strongest chance of winning something

Let's get this right - OC didn't send out a particularly "weak" team last night; it wasn't first choice but all players are in or around the 1st team - they just didn't perform.

When we got to the final we did it by fielding teams similair to that last night.

Bad day at the office and IMO it's an indictment on our fringe players - but not on OC or the Carling Cup as a competition

Cracking atmosphere with the whites singing there hearts out throughout.Felt like the good old days of the lower divisions.See price it at ?15 and they will come. This is why Prem league is poorly supported home and away .Teams are making enough dosh from sky to reduce ticket prices and get bums on seats.

Thought the Owen Coyle increased security with the extra stewards escorting him and surrounding the dug out was way over the top and situation clearly fuelled by the media storm.

Having said that good see Moreno for the first time but why why didn't he shoot on a couple of situations when he was in good positions.Mark Davies and Bogdan played well but no service for Ivan so didn't look interested.

Plus points

M Davies

Bogdan

Moreno in spurts

Home by 10.15pm quicker than the Reebok.

Minus points

Crap away end

Alonso

No service to the strikers

Burnley up for it whereas we weren't

Burnley inbreds

All in all apart from the result, good away night.

Another problem is the weakness of reserve football. It is mainly treated as an U-21s tournament by most. This means that established players aren't getting the sort of games to get them "match fit" for the Premier League.

We seem to have players who never seem to play or only in Carling Cup games, so heaven knows how they keep match fit.

Mark Davies did have a good game - but Moreno's first half cross came to him and he completely missed it. I also recall a similar moment in the opposition box in the 2nd half when Davies fluffed.

Ifs and buts - but Cohen should have scored in the 2nd half and we'd have at least forced extra time and given Elmander far more time on the pitch.

Right, we've discussed the fact that all the players last night or there or there abouts in the first team. What we haven't said yet is that, as a 1st choice player goes out, ONE of last night's players goes in, not all the lot!

This team was akin to just picking 11 players who knew each other but didn't know how to play alongside each other.

I think we'd seen it previously when BSA put about 4 new signings into an established team at Fulham. (Okocha's debut I think)

how many did we take? pretty sure it wasn't the 4k we could've

think we filled it at ?35 last season, with plenty songs throughout, mainly anti megson

Sold our allocation last season, think it was 2,900.. Sold about 2,500 last night but the atmosphere in the away was 100x better than the match last season..

The easiest cup to win is the carling cup as we cant be arsed!
