Upson is an awful centre half, how he has been capped so often by England shows you what dire straits our national team is in.

 

In my opinion it shows more about the great FA and British Media love-in with the Claret & Blue wankers.

Only Parker and we have zero chance of getting him or being able to afford him, the rest other than Maybe Ba have played terrible all season and have shown nothing about them.

People are too quick to label players as 'shit'. Upson was a decent prospect at Arsenal and played well for Birmingham. He's played fairly well during spells at WHU and had spells where he was dreadful. He clearly has ability, but WHU hasn't worked out for him. Plenty of decent players have bad times. Nolan did well for us, then he was labelled 'shit' and now he's captaining Newcastle and banging goals in again. Danny Murphy was decent at Liverpool and Charlton, then was labelled 'shit' at Spurs and is now at Fulham being good again. Most players have dodgy spells during their careers, but it doesn't mitigate their ability. Upson has shown he has some ability.

 

Still wouldn't want him though. He's too old to take the risk on him recovering from his slump.

I had breakfast with a couple of WHU season ticket holders who said in passing that Upson had really gone downhill this season & none of the team were interested in playing - bar Parker. The worst of their wrath was reserved for Joe Cole.

He failed the Stoke medical, so West Ham offered those reduced terms to Hoffenheim and signed him.

 

Hoffenheim agreed to sell him to Suttgart back in 2009 for 13m Euros, but he failed that medical too!

They've offered to double Ba's wages if he stays.

They were going through all the players who have contributed to their demise over the years, attitudes, what they've done since etc.. Lampard Snr didn't get a mention. And they don't like the 'we won the world cup' guff, they don't think it helps them at all.
