Next time you "head on over to the lake and jump in" can you tie a sack full of house bricks around your waist?

Why you wasn't planning on running in it was you.

  • Okay, taking that into account...   Congratulations - Your average speed is now comparable to that of a King Penguin on land.

A Bolton man, Ron Wallwork, won the Commonwealth Games 20 Mile WALK in Jamaica 45 years ago. The race started at 6am but the temperature was in the 8os (old money) by the time he finished - under 2 hours 45. That's over 7.25 mph. He's 70 now (and living in north London).

got some of thse - Niki Moto 8s

just went JD and picked out the ones that felt comfiest, presume they are decent?

I probably won't enter any runs, it bores me to death but have to do it as like you I was out of breath for 5 minutes after walking to the tube.

I'l tell you what does baffle me though, although I hadn't been for a run in donkeys years, I do go swimming 2/3 times a week and do 100 lenghs a time no problem.

running is a completley different story

look ok to me, if your just doing a run here and there you should be ok - the pronating thing comes into it if you do it lots

it baffles me also

I have been doing long distance running (i.e. 3-8 miles) for a few years now, since back in 2001, not as much as i used to, def got slower, but still do it

I swim couple of times a week

and try to go spinning once

i ain't fat and i seem to have decent stamina

i also play 5 a side in goal and can dive about no probs for an hour

BUT

like with the bus, and like last week when a lad went in goal who was injured and i played "outfield" - i was seriously fucked after 3 mins

like keeling over, being sick nearly fucked

ok, there's the chong, and the odd tabs, but it's only the short distances and short bursts that nearly kill me, the rest is fine

I have started jogging again, been doing it for a month now and its now quite easy.

Jesus after the 1st time I thought i was going to keel over, its definitely gets easier the more you do it.

I have now lost 1/2 stone! but the Mrs said its gone from my arse and not my gut.

I want to see all of my knob when i go for a piss and not just the tip!

that is it all mate

Oh well since I got wed its only used to piss out of anyway

Garp, if you are going to running 10miles a week go to a running shop and get your gait checked. A professional outfit wont bullshit you and will kit you out in the correct show. Dont fall into the trap of thinking its not worth it as you are only a doing a little of running. You will suffer with little niggles if you dont. Even though you hate running enter a 5k, it just gives you something to aim for ansd Iam convinced you will enjoy it.

Blackpool is a decent run, very flat and a good course for doing a good time, think i did 1.40something there....

Been out for a 8miler up COR to Bob Smithy in just under 64min in the rain and hailstones and it was fuckin magic!!!
