February 20, 201214 yr do it yourself mon....you can only fuck it up. if you do,get a decent saw. dont buy cheap stuff.its crap to work with a will last about a week before it all starts splitting.

February 20, 201214 yr What Burnden Bogs & Homer said. If it's in a hallway you'll likely have doorways & stairs, they're the tricky bits. Get a pro in. Also, consider having white edging (unless you're removing the skirting boards) rather than matching it to the floor, it stops it looking as if the floor is crawling up the walls.

February 20, 201214 yr aka plywood Yes but maybe not everyone can afford to have solid wood flooring throughout, Engineered wood is IMO a good alternative, there is obviously a big market for it otherwise no fucker would sell it

Keep thinking of getting rid of the hall carpet as there is original block flooring under it. Just looked at a couple of sites and I'm sure solid wood is cheaper to buy now than when I used to install years ago! Think I'll dig out my old portanailer and replace some of the dodgy boarding as well.

February 21, 201214 yr I got a load from a reclaiming place down Brewery Lane in Leigh. Can't remember what they were called but they cut a maple beam to the exact size and thickness I needed to re-do the bed on my pick up that I had at the time, put the rest of the rusty shit heap to shame! Sadly, they aren't there anymore and I've no idea where they went as A: They had complete mill office interiors for sale and oak panelled rooms which were beautiful, and B: It renders my comments completely pointless................
