June 17, 201214 yr Aye I was on the broken down coach and we all got on the other coach just to get us to the game. If my memory is correct then we had to wait a while in their supporters club after the game for our replacement coach and the hosts put on a few butties etc...or am I imagining that.

That's the good thing about these forums, I was on the coach that did not break down and forgot all about it, the fog has now cleared, keep the memories coming its great when a post can trigger long lost memories.
June 17, 201214 yr Author another one from the archives for you Mounts Watford away,'81/82 we took 91 fans and i'm sure you was there. me and brixton were in attendance their team had a young john barnes and luther blissett i think the entire game was spent with the ''1,000's'' of Whites singing ''who's up elton john,who's up elton john'' vivid memories of that day,game was a non-event with us walloped 3-0 days like that makes being a Bolton fan and that love never dies 30 years on,i can still virtually name the entire travelling support who were at viacarge road,a good 25 of them are posters on here Edited June 17, 201214 yr by miamiwhite

June 17, 201214 yr Author The one that sticks in my mind was the league cup early 80s we were on a downward spiral and Watford were on there way to being a top flight team, we lost the home game and were not given a prayer but a brave performance inspired by John McGovern resulted in us winning 1-0 in 90 minutes, unfortunately in extra time we ran out of steam, we were behind the goal from memory counted 23 Bolton fans. i went the home goal,think it was 2-1 to them but i didn't attend the return fixture. couldn't get time off..............school gillingham away,august '83 - lost 2-0. tuesday night match. hardly any whites there,but once again,a fair few of the following were lads from on here. sure we came through central london on the way home and gave abuse to united's team coach who were travelling home from highbury. a shitty game at anfield will never compare to days/nights like those

Went to Eastville to see the Whites once - a Saturday afternoon game. Watford in the early 80's ? Nah, much too far to go to see the shower we had then. I was living in London. Sh*t fan.

June 17, 201214 yr Without creating another thread, who remembers Southampton away in the cup. A big overnight operation took place to arrange transport for a couple of thousand Bolton fans who had paid their money for the train. Brit Rail went on strike and the footy special was cancelled. When we arrived at Trinity Street we were ushered onto coaches, because we were in a large group from Atherton we ended up on a bone shaker. Returning from the game the bloody coach broke down and ended up being towed off the motorway. The coach took hours to repair and we got back home early hours of the following morning. We all got a refund for inconvenience.

One lad kept opening the emergency exit at the back to give it large as we moved through the traffic in North London. The driver was not happy but instead of giving him a warning he stopped the coach by some old bill and got em to turf everyone off. They let two or three werther types back on then the driver simply closed the doors and pissed off. Utter cunts!

June 17, 201214 yr Author i think the maddest of all the trips i ever ran was the torquay final in '89. 2 coaches were booked from the stag on daubhill by myself and brixton,whilst brixton booked one for 50 lads from the rupert(i had better judgement,as you'll discover) the coaches took up up the 62 then down the M1. First coach was overheating by Clickheaton,so both coaches pulled in the services. the drivers gave strict instructions that it wasn't a scheduled stop and no-one should leave the coaches.it was just to get water for the radiators etc. brixton did get off,but we assumed he was on the other coach and vice versa. we eventually got to wembley without further delay,brixton was still nowhere to be seen. his dad and brother were on the other coach and assured us he wasn't on there,whilst we knew he definitely wasn't on ours. after the game,we went to the coaches which had vanished without us due to our boisterous behaviour,understandable considering some lads had climbed out of the rooflights and were running up and down the coach roof on wembley way,thus leaving 100 lads to make our own way home. we blagged our way onto the train,6 of us hiding in a bog for most of the way home,still no sign of brixton though. amazingly we got back to the stag for last orders and who was sat there ? yes,it was brixton. we'd left the poor sod at cleckheaton services at 7ish in the morning. he'd got for a bite and a dump,then missed the coaches. even worse,he gave me his money to look after,so he didn't have the fare to get down to wembley on the train. when things couldn't get worse,they did. the driver from the coach from the rupert turned up looking for brixton. it seems one of the lads,had booted a window in and was demanding ?400 for a new one. you couldn't script days like that
