The Burnley Away On First Day - Memories

.... anybody else remember the previous times?

First day of 77/78 in the season Ian Greaves got us promoted - Burnley 0 Bolton 1, Roy Greaves winner.

First day of 82/3 in the season both clubs got relegated to the third and Jim McDonagh scored against them in the return fixture at Burnden - Burnley 0 Bolton 0, loads of trouble around the ground.

First day of 2000/01 - Bolton side missing lots of good players suspended following Barry Knight's card-fest at Ipswich in the play offs the year before. Bolton 1 Burnley 1. Frandsen (pen) with our goal.

Was at all three. Good memories.

Not only did not did the dingles not win any of those ... they've not actually beaten us in any league game since November 1987. Nine games in total. Bring it on - I hope we leather the bastards.

In the cup game most of our lot were on the terrace on the side and Burnley went into our seats in Cricket Stand behind the goal. Any Bolton fan in there who moved got a kicking.

all shirts and scarves in those seats, not exactly our lads.

our lads were on the pitch first taking it to the inbreds. Burnley only came onto the pitch once the police chased us back. check it out on youtube for FACT

Surprised nobody has mentioned the FA Cup tie - November 1987.

Chaos.

The first game Burnley after the match was a bit naughty most Bolton lads turned right and for some reason it was planned that we all went to Burnley barracks station I must say we all made our way back in dribs and drabs and Burnley found it easy to pick Bolton Fans off. The return the week after I seem to remember going on the first train with a tidy mob led by JC and ended up in the upstairs pub in the precinct by 11 no Burnley fans made any attempt to find us, memory a bit sketchy but I'm sure that was the year we went towards ground and about 20 of us marched into the pub on the corner and all help broke out within 5 seconds, we did not come off second best, also seem to remember that our following that day was down on the previous many Bolton fans gave it a wide berth because of the trouble the week before, so it was mainly lads at that time there was a tidy little mob of game younger lads from LH who were bang at it some might remember them 2 of the faces were one lad called blob and the other Liver, the second lad stopped going to Bolton and started travelling with Uniteds lads through the 90s, Miami might remember them.

The Burnley game at home I was on the 542 going to Bolton TC when I saw this massive mob at the corner where the college was quickly jumped off the bus and joined the mob chasing down towards St Perers way saw very little of the Burnley mob as I was near the back all I can say is that it was definitely the biggest mob I have seen at Bolton and if Burnley had stood there ground they would have been game but ultimately would have been crushed.

Walked/thumbed to Burnley for an Anglo-Scottish Cup game the season they were relegated from the first division. Got a lift from Jumbles to Rawtenstall and walked rest of the way.

Remember getting the early train to Burnley about 100 on it and somehow someone found out old bill were waiting in Burnley to escort.

We jumped off at Burnley Barracks en mass jogged down the hill passing a copper in a patrol car on the way. His was a fucking picture :-)

Can't remember the year as I'm old now and can't be arsed looking. Some bright sark on here will know?

i've got off at burnley barracks a couple of times, that one you're on about is probably the league match in 87.

we went on the bus once to a lancashire cup match around '84,filled a double decker and got in burnley for 12ish,marching behind the back of town then steaming straight into their mob near the white lion ? scattering them everywhere. same day,2 Bolton fans were knocked down by a car trying to get away from the trouble. one of them suffered a nasty broken leg.

mounts - i know blob and liver very well, last spoke to them at captain wakes' funeral, sound lads even though they've turned and follow the filthy reds, had many good trips with them in our heyday

i broke my finger at burnley in 92/93 when mcginlay scored in the 1-0 win, prob march night match. the suicide squad tried to attack 25 old heads who'd gone up in 5 cars. one tried to hit my mate MS with a sly dig from the side but I caught him with a beaut and sent him straight over an old VW beetle, finger was broken cleanly, knackering my tendons as well

actually got some decent contacts aidiotst their lot from trips to warsaw, athens, germany and albania during the england days. they rate us very highly, hence why they harp on the '87 cup match non-stop. they know they were picking off splinter mobs and accept our mob at burnden, easter '88 was the biggest and most angriest outfit they've ever come acrosss.

incidentally, one of blackburn's main boys D,was originally was a burnley boy

Met the self confessed leader of the ss in one of her majesty's establishments a few years back.

He was a proper loon!

Whatever happened to jacko?

He was banned a few years back but haven't seen him since?
