Salou

This time next year, i had to book early to get a free child place for my daughter - they get snapped up pretty quick for the school hols.

Stayin all inc at the El Paso which is a sister hotel to the Hotel Port Aventura.

Not really my kind of holiday, but my 8 year old daughter will love it - and if the kids are happy an' all that.

Theme Park will be very busy but is open until midnight. I went this time last year and found it best not to head into the park until about 5pm. Catch some rays and beer pool side in the day. Best of both world's can't go wrong.

If you want to go in the day to the park you can but express passes at the hotel reception for about €7 a head. Straight to the front of the potential 2 hour queues for the bigger rides - worth doing. Didn't think much to the water park and had to pay to get in but it is half price staying in a Port Aventura hotel.

Isn't Salou a botulism-ridden Spanish shithole that makes Benidorm look classy?

It was when I went in 1987 anyway.

No, mate, definitley not.

Egypt is a 3rd world muslim shithole where you can catch bad AIDS just by looking at their banknotes.

Anyone been to Lloret de Mar of late?

We stayed between there and Barca not that long ago and went into Lloret just for a laugh. It was actually quite pleasant and not at all what I expected.

Aye, it's not too bad, away from the prom it's just a normal town. Not been to Spain for a while though as I'm adverse to being pickpocketed or twatted with a baton.

None of that. The locals were alright and didnt even call us Ingleesh Peags.

1st place i ever went abroad with the lads waaay back was around that area,Santa Susanna/Malgrat/Calella - and it was great back then.

2nd hol was Magaluf

3rd hol was San Antonio.

Long before the chavs discovered 'em.

Back in 1980 San An was mainly Swedes, Dutch, Danes and Germans and just a few Brits, the Swedish girlies used to love shopping topless in the little supermarkets
