£26 for the initial consultation which I am cool with.

 

2 Bottles of Eye drops, £46, yes 46 quid, I Googles them at home and they are 4 quid a bottle online

 

Now I am all for them adding on their mark up but 500% is a bit steep.

 

Could of bought me an extra bag of bing this Saturday with what I have forked out

I think they get away with a lot of the fees as most people will claim off insurance, my excess is 70 quid anyway, so I will only be claiming if more treatment is required

 

First question they ask is are you insured - if you are that puts the bill up. If you're not you still pay over the odds but not quite as much

 

 

Anyone who has pets and doesnt insure them is a crazy fool.

 

If you have several dogs the total cost of insurance is prohibitve. Also the older the dog the more you pay. You just have to bite the bullet. Thankfully the odd litter of puppies and the stud fees go a long way to covering the upkeep including vets fees but nowhere near the cost of show fees and petrol. But then it's a hobby and you wouldn't expect to get a return from watching BWFC.

Once you get a referral to specialists the bill rockets but 7.5k after being quoted .5 is ridiculous. The eye specialist we used for the cosmetic surgery told us it would be about £60 say £100 to be on the safe side. This is after we had paid out £1200 for the main eye surgery. When we got the bill it was £300. We complained like fuck and got half knocked off but even so we were pissed off. I can only imagine what I would be feeling if it it was 15 times what I was expecting even if I did get 50% knocked off.

 

Just as a matter of interest 1969 who quoted the 500 your vet or the university. Also have you considered contacting the British Veterinary Association (Email: bvahq@bva.co.uk). Might not do any good as your solicitor appears to have said you don't have a leg to stand on but they may do something and it might make you feel a bit better that the robbing bastards have been reported to their supervisory organisation.

My Dad has just paid out £3000 for his dog's cruciate ligament. should get back about £2500 back off insurnace,

 

Thats the same vets, Dog had a op last year and they fooked it up and it got sent to Liverpool, was another £2000.

The vet quoted that but even though they said £500 approx their was nothin in writing

And to make things worst later this year they had her in for blood test but while she was their they found a tumour

So had to have her put down but the cheeky cunts still tried to charge us for the blood test she never had
