He still trains with us. Don't need to be under contract to play for reserves.

Probably still do a job at left back

Then in that case as much as a decent sentiment it is then why are we playing a non contract player in our reserves

Maybe Coyle's told him if he can prove he's fit enough then there's a chance of a short-term contract?

In that case fine , if not its ridiculous

Agreed.

Having him here training is fine, but he shouldn't be playing for the reserves and depriving a youngster minutes on the pitch if the only reason he's here is to keep himself fit*

I couldn't think of any human being on this planet who Id want training and playing with our reserves over Ricardo Gardner.

What a man to learn about professionalism, hunger, commitment and dedication among many other things.

I'm not having a pop at him Garp, if he's training and alike his influence and that attitude he had will be infectious and highly beneficial , but if the reserves are a development squad he's stopping the development

Then we get him in as a coach then, not as a reserve team player.

he never did a fucking job in the first place.

Then we get him in as a coach then, not as a reserve team player.

Why?

hes a player and is trying to prove his fitness to win a contract.

iv read today that each team is allowed 1 player over the age of 21 to play

presumably as it benefits the youngsters playing alongside a pro and seeing what they do, pre match, during the match and after the match.

maybe teaches them things they need to do to make it as a pro

I couldn't think of anyone better than Ricardo Bolton Wanderers Gardener

Why?

Fucking hell, Garrp. See above. You'll see both SJM and I have said if he's here to prove his fitness and earn a contract then it's fine that he's playing for our reserves. If that isn't the case then it's not, IOO.

Agreed.

Went to the game last night - he ran the show in the first half, playing centre midfield.

Believe he hasn't been named in our initial squad of 25 - so can't play.

if theres a youngster showing the commitment and effort gardner is showing, then i'd agree

if they need to learn that even somebody who has been there and done it knows its necessary to work his bollocks off to earn rewards, keep him there

better him than robbie blake

Are you deliberately being stupid?

So you contradicted yourself?

Well done with that one

Agreed with the Robbie Blake comparison.

Now, if Gardner is here to try and win a contract then I'm all for him playing for our stiffs, but if he's here just to keep fit then IMO I think it's a good, nay great, thing that he trains with the kids - but he should only be training with them.

So you contradicted yourself?

No I haven't you bell-end plantpot. I've said if he's here to try and earn a contract then it's fine that he plays for the reserves. If he's not here to earn a contract then it's okay for him to train with the kids but not play for the reserves. It's really quite easy to understand. Whether you agree or not is a different matter.

Always good for youngsters to learn off a good pro though. Having said that, the quality of everyone else was severely lacking.

2-0 down within 20 minutes. Got a late consolation. But deserved nothing.

The worryis, that nobody really showed any quality and these lads are meant to be knocking on the door of the first team ??

Are we back in the Premier League, then?

IS it different in the Championship ?

We can still take players on loan for a start.

If Gardner drives a Q5 with a Jamaica sign on the back, he was last seen heading toward the training ground at 8.50 this morning.
