That anecdote sounded like the start of a reader's letter in 'Razzle' or 'Fiesta' One that ended with something like...

Good for you, I hope you are happy feeling all superior, It doesn't bother me in slightest, just like it doesn't bother me if someone doesn't type in perfect English, loads of Bolton talk like "alreet" etc get's typed on here, that should be " all right" even abbreviations like HBAYT are used, just like LMAO, etc.

If you understand them, then why get so annoyed, good on you for being educated and proud but chill out taking someone's mis-use of the your ideal world to heart.

Using loose instead of lose has become popular on here due to our recent form.

Have and of can be forgiven as that is really engrained in our dialect. IMO.

Tha should of gone t'other shop. Etc. have spoken sounds rediculous

I don't feel in any way superior. I feel normal.

Being part of the spelling police isn't cool and is pretty much frowned upon.

By whom? You?

As far as I am concerned, there's a better than even chance it will improve standards. Soemthing you definitely need.

Good work, Daz.

its not the ideal world, correct grammar is the real world.

Which is exactly why you'd say "should've" not "should of" ;)

Homo's mate reckons so. Did we ever get an update on the outcome of his bumslap?

I'd imagine he's heading to Savile Row.

In other words, this is simply a disguised ad hominem argument which intelligent and logical people disregard.

.

As you have chosen not to disregard it nothing more needs to be said

I don't feel in any way superior. I feel normal.

Please, you red my initial post, took it as some kind of insult to your education and started with the "only works in a shop" " I have my own home, you live with your parents stuff"

Little Whitt seems to do alright away from this forum in his real life, he's funny and interesting.

There is some revalent stuff being wrote down today. It's a good job teaching standards are being re thought of.

Diddles, Diddles, Diddles.

In the opening post where is there anything in there that mocks? Where in there is there anything that smacks of superiority?

I merely pointed out a common error that is made. This error, in my opinion is a fundamental misunderstanding of how to use "of" and "have". If only one person reads that and when, applying for a job, amends their grammar then it could make all the difference between them getting the job or not.

I'm not sure why you need to get all defensive when people point out errors. Fair enough, if the errors are highlighted and then followed up with "... you thick cunt", but that certainly wasn't the case here.

If I have been educated incorrectly and consistently get something wrong, then I'd like it to be pointed out to me so I can rectify it in future.

As stated previously, this thread wasn't about spelling mistakes - we all make them - it was about not understanding our own language, regardless of local dialect and/or accents.

When you speak could have, do you say it like could have or could of, I type could have, but I've just spoken a sentence to myself using those words and could of seems more normal.

You'd say it as "could've" you fucking idiot.

I've just spoken a sentence to myself

Yeah could've is probably more like it, there isn't really a small pause after the could.

Sounds like cuduve

No like DBP said, could've sounds normal in speech. Could of is just wrong on every level.

Oh and btw, i may use stuff like ::lol:: etc, but I try to type in correct English, I don't use text speak and don't use wrong words like "as or has" on purpose.

It's just seeing other's use incorrect language really doesn't bother me, certainly not something to get annoyed/angry about.

It's not normal, it's wrong. There isn't a verb ' to could' so you need a verb to qualify it. 'Of' is not a verb.

Probably???

Fuck off you imbecile.

You've made my blood boil.
