Personally I hated the Vatican

As an atheist I shouldn't give a shit, but all of that splendour didn't sit well with me in line with my own beliefs of what the Christian church should stand for. It actually gave me cold shivers

Then you did not understand what is is about, it is done in the glorify God.

And what revelence does an atheists beliefs about what the church should stand for have? It is like a homosexual commenting about the clart in a club.

No it isn't, that's a ridiculous thing to say. I'm straight, yet I can tell a good looking man from an ugly one.....

I understand what it's intentions are, I just find it quite "chilling" to be honest

It left me cold

Christian beliefs are wide and far reaching and not just about the "glorification of god"

If that is more important than loving thy neighbour etc, then it's no more an advanced religion than those that used to sacrifice their own for the "glorification of god", because by having rare trinkets instead of feeding a village is doing exactly the same thing.

Remember the cup in Indiana Jones???

The architecture and aesthetics of religious buildings are something to behold, who gives a toss what their motivations are, or if it doesn't fit with a 'help the needy' ethos they spout...

They'd still practice their mumbo-jumbo, would you prefer them to do it in converted car showrooms and other wanky venues, like 'The Bridge' on Bury Road, what is that anyhow? I always think that it's going to make the news one day, when I go past.

Faceless places of worship chill me, especially after watching that documentary on 'Jonestown' t'other night.
