December 30, 201213 yr When are the final fields announced for this meeting? It's being spoke about more frequently now I've noticed, and all the bookies have markets up. Is it a good time to bet to get the better prices, or is it wise to wait a whle yet? Edited December 30, 201213 yr by bwfcryan86
December 30, 201213 yr I'm not a fan of ante post betting to be honest. There was an interesting piece on it on our site that I'll dig out for you later.

December 30, 201213 yr Rarely have I seen a compelling antepost price. 1/5 on Frankel on one of his later outings was the last I can remember. As a bare minimum I would be looking for double what might be anticipated as a reasonable price at the off, but there is too much that can happen in between. Take the Gold Cup, I see why Bob's Worth is 3/1 but really, we are months away. Plenty time for injuries, changes of heart, poor warm up races, freak accidents, meterological chaos etc. Tidal Bay is 19/1 on Betfair and the talk is of side-stepping it altogether and going at the World Hurdle/National double! Should be 100/1 for Gold Cup! You can get 1000/1 on Kauto Star for fuck's sake. The night before is the earliest I would look under normal circumstances, maybe two/three days ahead of the biggest races. I would take maybe 8/1 on Bob's Worth at this moment in time.
December 30, 201213 yr Cheers mate. Are you an on the day man? Generally the night before or early prices on the day. Ante post generally means you lose your money if your horse doesn't run.
December 30, 201213 yr Ryan, You may or may not find this interesting: http://www.geegeez.co.uk/ante-post-in-running-betting/ Traf xxx
December 31, 201213 yr Interesting read that Traf. Especially as I backed Hurricane Fly in a big Ante-Post Lucky 15 for Cheltenham around this time last year. I have learnt my lesson and haven't had an ante post bet since.

I've actually already got quite a bit of stuff filed away and there's loads of stuff on our site at www.geegeez.co.uk ,the UK's best independent racing website. Edited January 10, 201313 yr by Traf
February 12, 201313 yr You can find the initial entries for some of the races here: http://www.cheltenham.co.uk/raceday/entries/2013/ I'm waiting for more firms to go non runner no bet before I commit to any more bets. My 2013 ante post bets are evidence of what a few of you have already said- my two speculative ante post bets on Hidden Cyclone and Last Instalment for the Gold Cup both weren't entered into the race. Grandouet, my Champion Hurdle ante post bet, suffered a setback it was reported today which is concerning. My only remaining ante post bet is the one I feel most comfortable with which is Overturn each way for the Arkle. Does anyone have any strong opinions yet on any races or is it still too early?
March 7, 201313 yr anybody sorting a daily race selection thingy, who did it last year ? was it norwich ?

When are the final fields announced for this meeting?
It's being spoke about more frequently now I've noticed, and all the bookies have markets up.
Is it a good time to bet to get the better prices, or is it wise to wait a whle yet?
