Why Work

Featured Replies

Did anyone read the article that I linked to about the woman who had her benefits removed, then reinstated just as she died? Worked all her life? Sometimes too, you don't want to believe that you're on the way out. My dad was forever trying to get back to working when all around him knew he was fooling himself. He would never have told the benefits people he was dying. If he'd been claiming benefits that is.

As for maxing out the credit card and going on a spree, chances are you wouldn't be well enough. Just imagine your parents in that position, not you as you are, fit and well now.

Maybe they should feature some of the 1300 people who died after being placed in the "work related activity" group (stop scrounging, you're not really ill, go and get a job) by Atos http://www.expre

OK Danny, you've been diagnosed with a terminal illness, you're having treatment that's going to give you a few more weeks to live. You're really going to want to spend that fortnight looking for a jo

Exiled, she would of carried on receiving her benefit while she was appealing.

Article is incorrect

It beggars belief that an article is posted that highlights a couple made millions off the taxpayer, for a failed venture to get people back to work. There's hardly any comment.

But, we're going through the ins and outs/nitty gritty of welfare payments of around £100 made (or not made) to the terminally ill.

Perhaps I'm just an unreconstructed communist to think our priorities are f*cked sometimes.

Ok. It's a shit scheme.

Right, these sponging dolite filth....

A4e paid its former chairman Emma Harrison a £1.5m dividend last year before she stepped down, accounts filed at Companies House also reveal A4e paid Miss Harrison’s associated business, Andromeda Park, a conference management company, £188,000, for “services” and her husband’s business, Thornbridge, £816,000 for lease of property, totalling another £1m for the couple.

£2.5 millions of taxpayers' money - chickenfeed!

But look, Gemima Puddleduck and Danny Creamer have a netbook, and a big telly and smoke fags...The bastards!

To me they'd be way, way down the hitlist if I was doing an audit of governmental spending.

I think we're being hoodwinked, bamboozled and duped - for everyone to have such a rabid reaction to such small fry. It's a bit like chopping off the hands of someone who's pinched sommat from the £1 shop, yet letting off bank robbers with a slap on the wrist. :)

Yeah. You said. We agree. Move on.

We're just hoodwinked, bamboozled and duped. I wish I has eyes that I could see all the social engineering both ends of the spectrum can spot that us middle of the roaders can't

It depends which paper it's written in, don't forget.

I said WE're didn't I? Not YOU're, I'm not 'bigging myself up' as some all-seeing oracle :) although I do have the eyebrows for it, unless I keep on top of them. Anyhow, I just wanted to shoehorn the bamboozled thing in to be honest, it's one of my favourite quotes.

He's hardly going to have suitable attire in his wardrobe is he? Having spent the past six years sprawled on his leatherette couch, watching BBC Three.
