Curlies Fishery

Anyone been since it was done-up, rebuilt, etc?

Used to be quite pleasant eating out overlooking the fishing lake, etc.

Not been in a long while.

They do posh fish of an evening. Tartare sauce in a fancy pot. It's licenced now too. It's pleasant on a nice evening

Aye, its bob on and do evening meals/drinks now.

If you want a Sunday breakfast get there some time on Friday.

Why do they call them Fisheries in Yawkshire and Chippys in Lancashire ?

I have no idea. Curley's is both though.

First time I've ever read / heard the word fishery

There's loads called fisheries round here, but everyone still calls them chippys anyway.

Think the last time I had a chippy was about 5 years ago.

But a fishery is a place where fish are reared for commercial purposes (which the resi @ Curley's does).  So, how's a chippy a fishery?

Very good point NB, I was just going to post that Question.

Been a couple of times...like NB said, it is quite pleasant on a nice day as they have done a good job doing it up .

I think it should be a fish restaurant though, not a fish and chip cafe....missed a trick in my humble opinion,

Kirkhall Lane chippy tea last night was bliss. The fish was a treat to behold, and the chips made a belting butty with all the flavours kicking in, what with the melting butter, the salty and vinegary taste and a strong cup of tea to compliment.

Well you can't run a Bentley on diesel that's all I'm saying.

Nailed on Gonzo..

Well you can't run a vile druggy thug on diesel that's all I'm saying.

Triploid Trout raised to be caught by some nugget that can't find them anywhere else, even though they live in pretty much every stream in Bolton.

Disagree, think they've hit the spot with what they have created.

Food was superb. 41 years old and its the first time in my life I've ordered fish & chips. Proof that taste buds change. Wouldn't go near fish for the previous time I've spent on this earth.

Well presented, great service, great surrounds, slate/tile floor, exposed beams, owner going from table-to-table checking & chatting with folk.

Highly recommended. Walked it all off with a mooch up to Winter Hill and then across to the Pike.
