i'd suggest it'd be hard to decide whether i was actually using a closed road?

Had to go in the 'One Stop Shop' t'other day, what a experience that always is...

 

The 'system was down' (again - last time I was in there in February it was the case), possibly due to this, they had three people at the door 'greeting/advising' - "Hello, can I help you?" "I'm here with a planning application" "Oh right, that's over there, take a seat on a red chair"

 

What, those red chairs near the sign saying waiting area/planning applications?

 

Fucking bloated bureaucracy at it's worst. And some of the staff would sink like a stone in somewhere like McDonalds - the only way they could've possibly got these jobs is through Nepotism - there's no other explanation.

wouldn't be hard, you are not using a closed road if it states you have access to it, usually, signs say road ahead closed, access only, follow diversion etc,  the term access is vague and covers almost any reason to drive down there the road closed sign would usually be at a point where any work was taking place and you couldnt physically get past it anyway (without moving cones) or at a place where there would be no need to go any further as no access was needed and it would only bring you to the work/incident area and so it may be closed at the easiest place to direct traffic, a junction maybe.

the actual points of closure need to be identified in metres from point to point and can be checked, if you needed to,that an order to close it was in place, but to be honest, I deal with the police all the time on closures, and in my experience, unless it's the slip road of a motorway or other fast road, there is nothing, absolutely nothing they could give less of a fuck about than motorists taking no notice of road closed signs, infact, their usual response to this is to tell me get more signs out as people are ignoring them.

Also just to say shared footpath and cycle routes are fairly commonplace around the country.
