Aye but I'm not going round adjusting stuff and late on, the downstairs privvy doesn't need warming.

I've not had the heating on for 3 days. Bit chilly but seen as its just me and the dogs may as well just use the fire for a bit each night and save some money.

if i want the heating on i just stick the remote thing in my bedroom/garage the temp drops and the heating comes on :good:

Get home at 8-ish, leave the house at 7-ish. I put in on for a hour when I get home, cooking warms the house then bed with the hot water bottle is baltic. Cold in the morning, just jump in the shower. Unless the kids are over, it's staying off.

I'm not going to waste money.

Was chilly last night but just put a throw over myself and then went to bed.

it's times like these when there is a real benefit to sporting a cravat, always ensuring a warm neck!

You are not wrong, although I have had to switch from a Winkle into a Brogue to avoid slipping on the frost bitten floor.

I was looking into one of those Dyson AM05, then I suddenly remembered I'm a cheapskate/borderline Communist... :)

Luckily it seems there's another solution, heat a whole room for eight pence a day? I'll have some of that...

I'd seen stuff about this sort of thing before, but all the instructions and pictures - well it looked like you needed about £300 worth of ironmongery and a degree in Engineering to make one - this link has an instruction video (short one) and someone (impartial?) has actually tried it out and commented positively too.

Only problem is the price of tealights and terracotta pots will probably go up 3000%.

The link may or may not work because writing 8 p unabridged makes this smiley 8P Brilliant! The (d)idiots are gradually taking over (says the man who used a smiley in the original post).

I thought about getting a new boiler through the Green Deal, where the cost of the boiler goes on your energy bills and stays with the house if you moves (I have no plans to move btw).  They reckon it can cost between £50 and £400 for an Assessment!!!

I think I'm going for a change of career.
