Should A 7Yr Old Get A Computer Tablet For Christmas?

Featured Replies

I'm not a parent but has witnessed a bright lad waste his youth and education because of excessive use of a x-box, his mum was happy he was indoors and she was having a quiet life, but it drove me mad. I was never in the house as a kid living opposite a park, it used to wind me up that he was allowed to fritter his youth away the selfish cow. Kids should mingle not just inside school but outside too, scouts or football teams etc.

In 5 years time every child will be using a tablet or similar device in the classroom.

In many schools it's already happening, bolton school give all pupils an iPad as standard now, it's just where teaching and learning is heading

Used correctly, your kids will be one step ahead of the game.

Apps like everything everywhere are the ones to get!

Tablets can also be restricted to just apps and websites you want, and at times of day too.

There's a massive difference between a controlled iPad and shooting cunts in the face on an Xbox

My 6 year old wants a proper computer now

That, I'm a little more wary of.

I've been in classes where kids have all had ipads...

its a fad... It makes things easier but I reckon more gets done using computers where you can monitor what's actually happening.

Can we make sure it's only parents that reply to this thread please, Ta.

Only when we make sure it's just BWFC fans that post in terrace talk. Ta

Biggest challenge is parents knowing how to control and use the restrictons on the tech their kids are using and not taking the easy option of letting them play on it all the time to keep them quiet.

My 3yr old grandaughter can use an ipad and the eldest grandaughter has all the usual games consoles, she does however spend most of her time outside in summer and does lots of extra curricular activities.
