So, I'm Getting Laid Off...

Gutted... I feel royally fucked over, but ultimately blame myself. I am a civil servant, who was supposed to have a 12 month fixed term contract... The role I applied for was obsolete before I started, so was immediately moved into another. Within a month a few of us were made up into another position... All going well until a change in structure. Fell at one of the last hurdles for my initial position.

5 weeks notice which I have to work, and perform a handover...

Feels like I've been dumped by my missus, but must now sit there with her and watch soaps, whilst she is finger blasted by my mate

Wouldn't happen on your watch, mate.

Exactly

They may as well just stay at home and pick short priced winners

After all, anyone can do that

Why not publish it on here?

Think I've had enough shit this week... Need to add I broke the zip on my shorts today and minced around Piccadilly moments away from a bollock popping out

Smiffs wont be happy that you are all helping a civil servant

Sorry to hear that mate. And if I've got my usernames right, you worked for the company who did something similar with my mrs last year?

That's true pal. We were in the same team. Weirdly, an agency representing them contacted me the following day regarding a similar role. Unfortunately, my holiday has put any immediate recruitment with them on hold for a couple of months. I may have better joy going direct though. How is your good lady?

Thought it was you. She's doing ok, she ended up going back to her old job, not as much money but at least she's happier and stress free with a bit more security (until the government contracts come up again!)

Happened to me twice in two years. First time was fine as I got a new job straight away, second time was a nightmare. I've seen agencies from both sides, using them to recruit and then using them to try to get a new job, and I can honestly say that they've gone totally to shite. They've generally lowered their fees because of the competition and have subsequently lowered their standards and efforts.

I've ended up going self-employed and it's not great as I don't get a salary/car/pension/shares/etc but my time is my own and the only wanker that I report to is myself
