I think the key in Rome, is to find accommodation central, you don't really want to be say 15 miles away from the attractions.

 

We're staying at the Caesar House Residenze Romane, which overlooks the Forum, it's great value and get's top reviews.

Never been, definite omission, but looking at Florence for this year sometime

I didn't rate Florence at all - full of scruffy students and museums but maybe I just lack a bit of culture.

 

Rome is ace, well worth searching some of the back topics on here, all been covered before with some great advice. I've been 3 times now, love the place
