Croatia

Croatia. Worth it? Best place to go? Best time?

Ta

Enjoyed Dubrovnik in early June

Would like to see more of Croatia

Long weekend - Zadar. Fly with Ryanair. Easy access to a few islands. Plus a couple of hours from Plitvice National Park (amazing place).

Longer weekend - Dubrovnik. Access to even more islands like Hvar, Korcula, Mjlet. Day trips to Montenegro and Mostar possible.

Not done Split or Zagreb.

Montenegro is pretty decent. Easy jet to Tivat. Stay in Tivat (nice harbour place with plenty of class). Or Budva for a beach/high rise experience (also has a walled old town). Kotor for the full old town experience. And there's tons of places to go and visit from around here. Highly recommend the place.

Reckon you could do a decent multi-centre with Dubrovnik, Hvar, Kotor, Tivat & Budva.

Croatia is an amazing place, I don't think you can go wrong wherever you stay tbh. We flew to Split and stayed in a great little place called Baska Voda. Hvar and Brac islands are easily accessible by ferry from there.

Its expensive but I would recommend. We stayed near Porec in the north, getting round was easiest by boats which was good and the weather in July was as piping hot as Greece or Turkey which was also good.

Split is a nice little place, Zagreb is good with 'the street of a thousand bars', we're staying in Pular in October

Pula, up north, near Porec? Stayed there in the 80s when it was still Yugoslavia. Close to Rovinj and Venice is accessible.

Looking at Rovinj for next year, probably June time.

Rich's thinking is we don't need to go to an all singing all dancing kids type place until baby bungle is old enough to appreciate it!

Went to Split in June for a week, spent most of the week on Hvar island. Didn't get enough time to see Split properly so we're going for a long weekend in October.

If you're going to the beach anywhere in Croatia, take swim shoes as it's very rocky everywhere I've been.

Going to dubrovnik next week. Staying in hotel Lapad can't wait!

Got some, needed them in Alibr, 5 mins from Benners but a completely different world. :)

We're staying in Pula because it's cheap, we're travelling to Slovenia for the England game which is easily accessible by train

Expensive? I suppose it depends what you're used to. £1.60 for a pint and not much more than 60 euros for a meal for 4 of us including wine and a beer.

I was getting at the cost of accomodation .We paid something like £850 each for a week in a 4 star hotel. It was a very good hotel no complaints at all with the food and facilities but a similar standard hotel would be £200 to £300 less in Greece or Turkey

We rented a holiday villa in Stari Grad which was good quality & not expensive & we ate out all the time. Restaurants all over Split and Stari Grad were very inexpensive. Split doesn't have many hotels, but lots of b&b's The hotel we stayed at for our last night was fabulous - called the Splendida Palace and we're going back there.

Well that'd be a first from you.
