Nhs

I'm sure we had a thread

Tomorrow, we start asking people where they have lived for the past 6 months, when having elective treatment.

One doctor said all treatment should be free for everybody whilst saying at the same time that the NHS is chronically underfunded.

Part of the issue is that they've historically recruited folk who can do and will do. All public services have folk who are making it work despite the cuts. They're on their arses with it. Unfortunately, the minute something breaks down, they all get labelled idle or trouble makers. Nobody sees the efforts to make a shit system look as though it's working.

Funding won't fix the NHS

Not a chance

It's organised terribly

It's ran terribly

It spends money terribly

However, it's not allowed to be criticised properly by anyone that should or it's political suicide and there's accusations of "selling it off to mates"

A wonderful, wonderful idea that's simply a bit broken

I've spent all day today at a hospital. As I did yesterday and for many days in the past couple of years and we've had great care for most of it

We've also seen a lot of laziness, waste of resources and inefficiencies beyond belief.

It's not an easy one this

The waste in the NHS is unbelievable. We supply into estates and NHS Trusts and can save them an absolute fortune......but there is little interest as energy sits on someone else's budget. Pull them together and run the simple stuff as a business and they'd save enough to fund extra staff.

The service we get with Erin is second to none though, never had a single.complaint.

I've got friends in the NHS, Fire Service and Police Force and all saying they're being squeezed financially and then stretched to breaking point.

does that sound like the private sector.........

but with a gold plated pension to look forward to...

As Mick said, they had a period of pay awards ahead of the private sector now it is rebalancing, but the pension....

Bit on the radio this morning about parking charges at hospitals.

Paid £5.10 for an hour and half on Friday ffs

With efficiency improvements they are saying they could get 20% more operations done

£3.50 for up to 2hrs at Stepping Hill in the worst car park ever

£2 all day at Alder Hey

Can you not reclaim parking costs for the nipper? I know we can for the missus.

I think if you're claiming PIP you should be able to.

It's only a couple a quid a visit but it can soon mount up if you're there regularly .

for balance

they also said theres no beds to move recovering patients into

theres probably not enough surgeons either!

Better to spend it on care than car parks?

im with you, so long as the monies raised dont go to private companies

Don't mind paying it me but it's got to be hard for some folk with relatives they visit every day

Alder Hey is v reasonable.

If it means more for care, then I don't mind who profits really

If it goes to NCP

As an example?

If theres money being made, it would be an utter nonsense not to keep it in the system

Got to be in for over a week to claim free pass. Stepping hill is a right rip off compared to most. North Manchester is cheap. Stepping hill apparently got some Russian firm to do the car park. That's why all the spaces are ridiculously tight. Big problem with the NHS is putting contracts like that up for tender

Basic economic sense could mean that profit for someone = more for care.

If that's the case, then who could argue.

If it's just profiteering then no.

NCP want to increase our parking costs in manchester by 43%, which seems s but rich, especially when it's full of junkies and tramps.

Is that right?

Not good news for me, I have a ST in the NCP in the Great Northern
