Not heard that about funnel webs mate. When we lived in NSW, we were always told us to check out piles of leaves in your garden before rummaging about/clearing them. They like to build their traps in them.

Not that I am aware of sir. They dig burrows and then (obviously) fly around a bit. It's that flame red colour I suppose. Just suggests 'stay the fuck away from me'. I do.

Seeing one drag summat away 4 or 5 times its size is slightly off putting too.
