You’re dismissing the worries of huge swathes of the population based on the extremists. I’m following suit. Enjoy your safe European home.

How am I ignoring these concerns?

  • Can not speak for @gonzo but coming back yesterday we ended up with one  of our seats double booked with a protester. We chatted most of the way back, I told him I  was not a supporter and he was fine

  • I just wish folk would stop producing bollocks information and spreading it. 3 kids have been murdered ffs and the first thing someone can think of is set up a fake twitter profile and post some

  • Anyone who thinks Starmer covered up for grooming gangs because he in some way thinks it’s ok, is off their fucking box. Hes a dull as shit, methodical legal cunt. Unfortunately, to get justice p

Why? Because some of them look young?

Because when they have to deal with people assaulting them, swearing at them and throwing things at them.. they react like any human would.

If they feel threatened, they're going to react.. simple as. The mob mentality thing would get anyone to that point.

Because that lezzer has clearly lost control and looks like a supply teacher having a meltdown.

If they're our front line police sorting out scumbags causing havoc then we are fucked.

We don't pay them enough and don't train them enough.

Got to have sympathy that if they had twatted them with a baton or threatened to as they would do within a mile of a football ground they would be up before internal complaints.

Lord Blunkett calls for 'ethical reset' of police leadership

The former home secretary has co-authored a major report that has found the running of forces in England and Wales needs a "fundamental overhaul".

Cultural change needed.

Weird old custom that is.

Bizarre process in and of itself, but also a bit odd that it is the responsibility of the chancellor to grant it.

I would imagine that to be a ceremonial role of the speaker or member of his office, or possibly the attorney general.

Some quirky old systems we have.

I think it's high time we modernise some of our institutional norms surrounding parliament.

The US is seeing what can happen when someone who is not acting in the interests of the US constitution gets into power and starts being a cunt. We don't want the same thing happening over here and some pound shop Temu Trump d coding to ride roughshod over political norms no matter what colour rosette.

Probably right.

I think we're a bit naive or over confident in our democracy sometimes. As if it could never happen over here.

I'm not seeing too much wrong in this particular incident.

They got the people back, didn't end up going "hands on" and presumably no, or few arrests made.

Unfortunately, abuse is par for the course these days, but that as much as anything is societal and the authorities have reduced capacity to act. Unless of course, you're a commedian and post a tweet

Can you give an example of a "comedian" being arrested for posting a tweet?

Graham Linehan?

Stewart Lee, they arrested him and threw him in jail just for saying he's English! These days...

I don't recall. Something about trans women wasn't it?

No idea. You brought it up.

Because you asked for an example.

Are you 100% sure he was arrested for "posting something on twitter", even though you don't recall any of the details? Maybe he was.

Just checked. Apparently he was arrested at Heathrow on suspicion of inciting violence because of three tweets he made about trans women in female only spaces. He suggested it was a hostile act and that women should retaliate - including to 'punch them in the balls' which is presumably what he was arrested for?

Ok. It is a bit odd that you keep asking me to confirm details about an example you cited, yet don't seem to know much about.
