June 4, 200917 yr I find this one works a treat: http://www.superantispyware.com/superantis...efreevspro.html
June 6, 200917 yr I find this one works a treat: http://www.superantispyware.com/superantis...efreevspro.html amen to that - sorted me out good and proper a few months back when somehow I'd got a load of shite infecting this one. This one as well: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ I scouted round some serious forums when I had the issues and these two were the most highly recommended; scan with BOTH, one after the other - as people said, its unlikely one system will catch all. At the time malewarebytes was detecting one problem but not cleaning properly; the superantispyware fettled it. Both have quick scan modes which seem to look in the right places and only take 10 mins - but well worth running full scans every so often. The free versions dont have real time protection - and thats a key point. Most things that provide that cover need you to subscribe - and thats surely an issue with the free AVG for example?? I have McAfee on mine as it came with it and also I can fettle updates via work; I do also pay to keep it updated and running real time protection and its presumably no coincidence that the one bad infection I got came after a couple of days when there were issues with McAffee working properly (it would convince itself that real time protection was off - took a bit of mooching around forums to work out how to rectify it by deleting various DAT files). The moral of the story though is that I'd not gone anywhere unusual or used any suspect data pens or anything in that time - yet summat got on board that quick. In other words just running an anti virus/antispy programme once in a blue moon aint going to help.
June 6, 200917 yr i have avast, spybt, adaware and ccleaner not spent a penny on owt and not a problem encountered and i do believe avast has real time protection
June 6, 200917 yr i have avast, spybt, adaware and ccleaner not spent a penny on owt and not a problem encountered and i do believe avast has real time protection I use avast and it is great. Auto updates and real time protection too. I also use spyware blaster as a preventative but I think there are issues with inter cooperability with avast as it keeps flagging up problems. I have Malwarebyes too which i update & scan every couple of days or so. Since using these I have never had a problem, long may it continue!
June 6, 200917 yr and i do believe avast has real time protection aye well you'll be reet then - but summat with real time is key. Coincidentally I just tried to go on Boxingscene.com which has a good forum for boxing news and McAfee is warding me off saying it introduced vulnerabilities when they tested it. Now they never reported that before so maybe have just tested it, but it was somewhere I went when I had that lapse in security I just mentioned. So maybe that was the catalyst for getting such grief. And it was grief - looking up the infections indicated they included keystroke loggers etc that can do real financial damage, in priniciple at least. Everyone needs to be careful of a false economy here - fine, spending nowt might sound good - but you need to be sure that in the process you're not risking much more. Maybe that's possible - I've no fucking idea really - but in the end a few quid spent on a subscription might pay dividends.
