Vieux Port is the area to head for. Plus, our hotel is overlooking it We'll be there (4 of us) on Wednesday & Thursday night (before & after the match), to be joined by 2 more of our party arriving on Thursday via Happy's one dayer.

I thought we were playing Marseille... in Marseille! 8-[ How much is the train from Marseille to Toulon?

For those flying to Marseille from Gatwick, & haven't arranged transport to Gatwick yet, Jet2 (http://www.jet2.com) have flights available from Manchester to Gatwick for ??1 :D/ . Once the tax, etc. has been added it goes up to the princeley sum of ??15 (one way). There are various (good) times & days available & the dearest flight is only ??9 + tax. Unfortunately we are already booked onto a Manchester - Heathrow, Gatwick - Marseille package which cannot be changed #-o Hope this is of use to some of you though.

4 of us, Marseille Wed. & Thur's. nights. Vieux Port is the place to be.

Why not, we were only 3 points off it last season & we had that terrible November/December.

Our party is flying to Porto via 2 routes, Stansted and Manchester/Frankfurt. The Stansted flight lands at 20.50 on Wed. 23rd. The Manchester/Frankfurt flight lands at 23.45 on Wed. 23rd. We have booked an 8 seat minibus (one for each flight) to transfer us from the airport to the centre of Porto & we have room for two on the 20.50 arrival and room for three on the 23.45 arrival. The taxi firm (which is ABTA bonded) monitors the flight/s, so they will still be waiting for us should the flight/s be delayed. The minibus driver waits in the arrivals lounge, with a board with our name on, for our arrival so the transfer should be pretty swift, thereby allowing more drinking time! If anyone is on either of these flights and wants to share the minibus with us then let me know. Each minibus is ??42, which is only ??7/??8.40 each for the 6/5 passangers in our 2 groups. If we fill the minibus it will bring the cost down to ??5.25 each. We won't save much but a ??5 trip, for someone on the same flight, who wants a convenient & timely transfer, could be a bargain.

We'll be there, 11 of us. Wednesday night in Porto, Thursday night in Guimaraes. :D/

As I've said on another thread, there will be 11 of us staying in Porto on Wednesday night & the Ribeira area sounds as though it's good place to head (lots of bars & good nightlife) so that's where we'll be. We're staying in Guimaraes, after the match, on Thursday. I expect the atmosphere before, during & after the match to be amazing.

We'll be heading towards the Rebeira area, which is next to the river, close to the large steel bridge.

Well there's 11 of us, so even if there are no more Wanderers fans in Porto on Wednesday night we'll still have a great night. :D/

We're in Porto on Wednesday night & Guimaraes on Thursday night, so hopefully we'll have 2 excellent nights. I've done a bit of research & the Ribeira area (down by the river & close to the giant, steel bridge) looks like a great place to go in Porto at night, so hope to see some more of you there. I think there will be so many Whites fans in Guimaraes, which seems to be a relatively small centre, that wherever you go there are bound to be loads of fans.
