More than happy with that result at last having a shot and finding the net. That clinical finish is what we've been missing all season let's hope it's a turning point.👏
-
So we shouldn't judge him on goals or assists or tackling 2 needless yellows for the same stupid tackles in 2 games. Don't get me wrong he gives it his all he's just not good enough in that position.
-
What ? Should I give you his assists then ? It's not much better

Frigging shit supporters having a pop at SS for playing one forward up front against the mighty Blackpool shame on you 21.000 fans for voicing your opinions on a forum. He must not be criticised !! How's that to kick us off on a Frday night 🫡

Absolutely hats off to you guys for the long trip tomorrow heart says 1-2 but realistically think a draw is more likely. I had to laugh at the report from Kyle Dempsey this week he's obviously the latest to be put in the firing line saying we need to find the answers to winning. His record is 3 goals from 22 games ( 1:7 ) along with Josh 3 goals in 29 games (1:9) and Simons 1 goal in 20 games. Don't start me on the forward line we simply do not have the firepower to get out of this division so we may clinch 6th spot but no better I'm afraid and then it's a complete lottery. I honestly feel it's another year in this shitty league but happy to be persuaded the above is shit and we'll do it because.............??

Will somebody please grab him by the neck and stop him going up for corners and free kicks. I'm sick of seeing him get in the way of our attackers, giving a cheap foul or using his threepenny bit head to clear the ball for the opposition. Absolute liability 3 goals in 151 games tells you everything

I thought it was our worst performance of this season 2-0 up and defending like knobheads instead of going for the 3rd. I think we'll finish 8th or 9th so long as we play Forino and Johnston together.
-
I have to agree after watching their goal yesterday and the crap goals we gave away at Barnsley and Lincoln is there anyone else who thinks we have serious problems at the back and is a follow-on from previous years ? I have to say I have absolutely no confidence in that back line apart from Conway. They have neither speed of recovery, timing when to put their foot in and adopt the ' thou shall not pass ' approach or heading ability or get forward and be a threat up front ok Toal has scored one but when you think back to the Beevers/Wheater days and watch the shocking attempted headers like Johnstones yesterday it's so frustrating. Its obvious why we have such a poor defensive record yet again. Get a strong no nonsense centre half / captain material signed quickly or we will miss out again regardless of how many goals we will score at the other end.

I've criticised some of the teams performances last season for schoolboy defending , lack of effort, passing sideways and backwards and playing it safely, lack of commitment etc. Went last night and for 70 minutes it's the best I've seen us play in years and chalk and cheese from previous games. We completely bossed the game and should have been out of sight after the first half and this is the only criticism I can offer. The wingers are super quick and tricky and no doubts will turn most League One defenders inside and out most games. Unfortunately though their lack of ability to find that pass to a colleague in a better position holds us back and our end product is the major reason why we are not sitting at the top of this poor league. I hope SS is given the money to find a quality striker, a right back and a midfielder who has an eye for goal and can put their foot in when required. I really enjoyed it last night Simmons and Erhahon were both exceptional and both wingers are so positive so here's to more of that but better quality and composure where it matters most.

I know it's early days and let's see who SS brings in but do we accept it's going to take at least 2 seasons to get us ready for the next step up to the Championship ? We finished the season in relegation form and the usual suspects cropped again and unlikely to be anywhere near fit enough to either buy into SS plans or give us a chance to get a transfer fee. I suspect if we get off to a flyer the injured ones will dramatically improve and want to be involved again but if there's a continuation of the dross served up for the last 12 games of last season they'll be hiding again making it impossible to get rid. I think we should bring in free transfers for another season, stop spending stupid money on the likes of Collins, MaCatee, Randall, Schon, Lolos etc and consolidate our League 1 position until we can off load and properly invest for the future. Anyone who thinks bringing in a couple of new signings ( I like Dalby BTW) to compliment this lot and suddenly they're going to turn into promotion candidates is living in cloud cuckoo land. We need replacements in at least 8 positions including Goalkeeper, LB, RB, Centre Half x 2, Central Midfield x2, Winger and at least one more hungry and fit forward. Hopefully SS and Fergal will hit the ground running but realistically I think the 2026/2027 will see us promoted.

Yep they seem to be very comfortable on the bench

I'd take another Clinton Baptiste

I think it's actually the Board who might be the ones to question not Evatt. To give him another £1.2m for another average lightweight midfield player to go with the others when we've been crying out for a no nonsense tough tackling player for 2 years is mind blowing. I noticed that the super league computer has us down to finish in 14th position !! Yep 14th in the third tier after he's wasted the best part of £5m and we were favourites with Birmingham to be promoted. I also saw the comment ' if I can't win the battle I will be the first to go and have that conversation with the Board '. He shouldn't be the one to make that decision for God's sake he's an employee he doesn't get the right to decide when we're sinking faster that the Titanic that OK I'll take my payoff and leave the new manager with ' these lot ' all his signings. Give me strength we are an absolute basket case on and off the field.
-
Much as I've been one of Evatts critics and I still feel we will never go up with him in charge I'm more than happy for those magnificent supporters today and especially for Aaron Morley. Thank God that by hook or by crook we somehow managed to win that bloody awful game and move on. IE won't change his tactics he's made that clear and we used up quite a bit of luck today however i won't begrudge him a few drinks tonight to celebrate. I just wished it could be a turning point in our season but just can't see it.
-
Forget the scoreboard pressure can he move the 5-4 block without getting bored ?
-
I've listened to Evatts interview 3 times now, used AI to try and decipher it thinking it might be a secret code but alas to no avail. What the bloody hell is he going on about ? 5-4 blocks, rust, moving the block, scoreline pressure's, got bored , erratic. I think he's trying to outsmart the presenter Boris style in the hope he is accepted as a really bright and forward thinking football manager. In reality he's no idea how to get a tune out of them as we have seen time and time again and he has to go before he's given the opportunity to waste more of OUR money ( not Sharon's) on more prima donas. Anyway our manager (for the time being) is always keen to through in a few numbers and ratios he likes to try and cover up the abysmal performances so I'll give him one or two for balancing up. Mansfield scored 2 to our 1, Mansfield had 14 shots with 5 on target to our 12 and 3 on target but in fairness to him we did win one contest 87 backward passes to their 34 you see always a silver lining 👍🏼

Can't seem to see any other posts about this my friend. Perhaps you could be so good as to give me an example of the dozen other threads relating to Sharon's specific answer to her ' Root and Branch ' review as I'd be interested in her report
-
After that absolute shambles at Wembley I was given some hope by Sharon and the board at Bolton Wanderers that a full ' Root and Branch ' review would take place immediately. I thought at least she is hurting the same as us supporters and surely it will get to the bottom of the problem and identify why we never turn up on the big occasions. Now I stand to be corrected but apart from us securing the services of a new assistant kit man from Evri and another assistant leaving us what did this root and branch review actually conclude ? Like many fans I would have liked to have seen Ian accept responsibility and leave on amicable terms so that we could start again. However that didn't happen and recent comments from the manager and chairman seems to imply it won't be happening anytime soon. Sharon's loyalty towards the manager is commendable in someways and we will always be grateful for the way she and her colleagues have worked to give this great club of ours a sense of pride back. I do think however she is in danger of allowing sentiment to cloud her judgement when asking us to blindly back the team even though it's plainly obvious to all that we are regressing and absolutely nothing has changed with the team's inability to compete against our local rivals and the top 6 teams. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong and that starting tomorrow night we show what these players are capable of and go on a run culminating in reaching our pre season target of promotion to the Championship.
-
Probably not and neither will we if something doesn't change pretty quick. It was just refreshing to see a team go out and give it a go
-
Just watched this League 2 side totally dismantle Championship heavyweights Boro playing with spirit, aggression, skill, willingness to want the ball and organisation. Remember the excuses PP came out with when we let them run all over us up at the Riverside ' well what do you expect ' ' how can our guys compete against their team with the transfer fees they cost ' . Great to see such enthusiasm and determination and great to see them get their just deserts. Their manager and the team are a credit to the town and I hope they put the same effort in against City something tells me they will. What would we give to see our lot have a go like that !
