First line of defence? Youri held possession very well. Therefore able to take off the pressure. Jay Jay has done this in the passed, but at the minute he seems to get caught with the ball a lot. Same fate has befallen Campo again, continually losing possession or mishitting/misplacing passes. I think Youri would have made better use of the knockdowns from Davies. On last nights programme - a mask was shown to Ron - it was allegedly a racist artefact. It was a characiture of a black woman - big eyes, big nose and big fat lips. Ron was asked his view on the mask. He replied that he could purchase anywhere in Britain a similar mask - and in fact a mask also for the likes of Maggie Thatcher, Tony Blair and George Bush. He saw nothing in the mask as racist - more an exaggeration of features. As you would imagine - a mask for Tony Blair would probably have enormous ears on it - to accentuate the fact that his ears slightly stick out. Ron saw it as black culture taking offence to people picking up on their common facial features. (I'm digging myself deeper and deeper!). One final note from the prog - the use of the word Mutha Fucka - by black rappers and black youths in America. It was brought up - why no big deal about this? Surely this is a hugely offensive term. ??????

Characteristics of cultures from around the world..... 1) Chinese people have yellowish skin and eyes that are slanted. 2) Scandanavian people have fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. 3) Afro Caribbean people have black curly hair and thick lips. 4) South American people have dark hair and oily skin.

Ask yourself this. If you moved to Jamaica (or similar Caribbean / African nation) to live. Would you be treated as an equal from day one? Would everyone accept you into their community with open arms? And more controversially, should you choose not to work - would you get all the levels of financial support that locals would, or medical support? Oooh, there I go again. Just re-read my last sentence - I am obviously insinuating that all non-white people are lazy good for nothings! Take me out and whip me!

Homer, its not the fact that you laughed, its the fact that at the time you had a white pointed pillow case on your head!! I found it both funny and sad. They did have him down as one. Though 90% of the black players who had worked under him have forgiven him. When he toured Alabama and spoke with the Americans - he was surprised at the way the "n" word is used and perceived over there. The black girl said she also found it strange that she could say "what yer doing nigger" to her black friend, but if a white person said it to her she would be offended. Ron thought it was a double-standard. Also interesting to see the way the older generation in the Midlands viewed race, race relations, and "political correctness". What did shock me though, was the fact that he had done it before. I bet very few people on here knew that. England vs. Cameroon in 1990 World Cup. Big Ron was commentating and suggested that one of the Cameroon defenders had no brain. Not a racist comment, but Brian Moore quickly picked up on it and said - "You mean no football brain Ron?", to which Atkinson responded, "err, oh, yeah". When they were supposedly off air - Big Ron said - "Do you think I got away with that? I guess only his mother would be offended, and she's probably back home up a tree". Judge for yourselves. A good progamme though.
