  1. Ask him if its worth putting a few quid on us being promoted please.
  2. I guess that's why they're in scientific professions and not politics. The ability to flip a question and quickly talk about something else is different talent entirely. Watching whitty yesterday having to negotiate around the odd politically leading question was testament to his ability, openness and calmness in not getting drawn in. Unfortunate too, when they're discussing what's to be learned. One thing I didn't know, is that they assumed the virus would behave like SARS and people would only be infectious when symptomatic. Whilst they knew it was possible for it to spread pre or asymptomatic, they assumed the former. Then got a bit of a rude awakening.
  3. Yep. Very true. Slightly off topic but relevant nonetheless, was an interview with an mp in one of the former red wall seats. Completely changing this approach formed the basis of his (and others') campaigning at the last GE. More too it than a couple of sentences, but that's for elsewhere.
  4. Yes. I guess that's why, apart from a few, the vast majority would like a trade agreement. Very few actually wishing for it. Some interesting input on Newsnight last night on all this.
  5. If you dont know accurately, do you take chances that it might not be so bad, and risk doing a bottom bull, or do you take a more cautionary approach? Given accusations of not acting quickly enough previously, you can understand the curfews. Especially as fundamentally, the longer you mix with folk the more risk you have is accepted as fact. The alcohol factor is important too, hence meals over ale.
  6. Aye, reckon so. Obviously takes time to drop, moreso than the cases themselves. After next week's review, further reviews are supposed to be weekly. Might get a present for Christmas, but might wait until after.
  7. Speaking of which, I'm currently watching the select Committee on virus with whitty and Vallance from earlier. The comments by Vallance re curfews need to be watched/heard in the round. He explained that modelling such things is very difficult and has errors. Also explained the reasoning behind countries doing it as a policy decision to reduce amount of time people were mixing. How effective it is, not sure, but the thought behind it makes sense.
  8. That's not destruction is it. Reduction yes. Big difference. Hence so much government funding to keep them afloat. If they had been destroyed then the government wouldn't be spending.
  9. https://www.boltonjsna.org.uk/coronavirus#daily Found this, might be of interest.
  10. In fairness, Peelyfeet had also said his business had essentially gone to pot. Said he needed to look for something else to do. Perhaps a bit busy to be arsing around looking for articles and publications.
  11. I'm fascinated to hear that markets have been destroyed by covid too. Port backlogs suggest not.
  12. I said a good while back that it wouldn't surprise me if he does one post brexit. As for the money: he has openly said he believes mps shouldn't be getting a pay rise. Despite the independent review body recommending an increase of over 4 %. Can't see many voting for it.
  13. Got any jobs? 😁 No deal will certainly yield plenty of upheaval. How quickly the economy responds, who knows. Still have a feeling something will happen- last night's dinner may not have yielded a massive breakthrough, but they did send the negotiators back in, after they had effectively got to a stalemate. Perhaps a bit more leeway was given to them by the turbot scoffers. (Which might be off a lot of European menus in a couple of weeks)
  14. Those three areas are cycling over the recent weeks. Strange. Perhaps areas not dropping, should have their Christmas opening reduced or cancelled altogether...
  15. The way things are at the moment, I reckon working in the nhs is probably as secure a job/career as there is.
  16. Probably, though at that point the concept of a deal was an unknown, and couldn't be known until negotiations started. Ideals are one thing, but until agreements are made, we don't know what they look like. Obvioulsy couldn't start negotiations prior to a referendum. Similarly, the concept of a no deal, even now, is subject to interpretation, depending upon your point of view. Certainly no mood for another referendum, and would risk wide ranging civil disobedience.
  17. Right, so being honest, its not purely about delivery concerns to the UK. Its about speed of getting stuff out of their own door. Which is all fair enough. Unless they've redirected your products elsewhere, which is a risky manoeuvre.
  18. Why wouldn't the EU release their proposals to help their nations' businesses? Its in their interests remember; and Spider's supplier is one of them. As its in our interests for our lot to offer up solutions. Which in the end becomes mutual assistance. Not really a matter of trust as such, just the bleeding obvious assistance.
  19. I can understand them being unsure about the time it may take for delivery, but the sooner they send them the better surely. You get them when they come and they get paid. Can't see the logic of holding stuff back, irrespective of the obvious time concerns. I'm assuming we're talking metal products and nothing with a short shelf life. Just seems the complete opposite of the approach of so many others.
  20. Better by the interviewer that. Didn't ask about potential changes though: given Evatt had identified a big lad up top for them, and our obvious missing of Tutte, be good to have an idea of what he might do to compensate.
  21. When the North was flying high we had a disproportionately large amount of testing capacity stationed up here. Still shit loads about. Liverpool used to pilot the new mass testing set up. Now its up and running, why wouldn't you use the new method and its numbers where the incidence is worse? If these new machines were available in numbers and working earlier, they'd have been used in the North earlier. Do we need them now, given the drop in numbers- maybe not. Send the capacity to where its needed. Theresa Villiers can do one though; pleading for London not to be put into tier 3. That's dependant upon the state of the virus, like everywhere else.
