  1. Think I read that the undercard starts at 8pm, probably 11 for the main event.
  2. Hugh Mcllvenny (spell) has long since said that the biggest problem with the HW division now is the wages paid by NBA and NFL. It's hard to find fault with that argument.
  3. Not blaming him of course, I applaud him. Just countering your he has bumbled his way there ... The reason he got the fight is that he created the interest. Simples.
  4. Messi for Barca against Espanyol '07 and later the same year Modric ripping Ajax apart playing for Zagreb (the best one man performance I recall live). Boxing live - Benn v Collins, Calzaghe v Lacey (biggest shock was seeing Khan put on the arris in Preston in the regional ABA's). on telly the 'Bruno's hurt Tyson' moment (get in there Frank), Hagler v Hearns.
  5. Haye has talked his way into it by his controversial comments and stunts, which is why a lot don't like him. That has created interest in him and the fight and increased the dollars.
  6. Klit has been knocked out by smaller men before so size will not be so important as speed and composure. If Haye really has rattled wlad then a war could ensue which haye would be favourite to win. If wlad keeps cool and stays behind his jab it could be an easy points win (and boring fight). As for the legacy of the brothers - what about Vitali's career defining win over our own Herbie Hide? ?
  7. Cheers Billy. I would have to say 'working' in the main but at times maybe all three ... Thanks for the welcome chaps
  8. I think he is expecting to be paid ?50k per week. Whether he is a cnut or not he is not worth that kind of money. Another example of an average English born footballer (he really is not better than that) who commands wages way above his ability. No better than Kevin Nolan (at his worst).
  9. A dynamic pass results in a goal, whereby a hoof does not. A little like the short passing game is either 'tiptoeing through the tulips' / 'fannying about' or 'football on another level' - depending on whether a goal is the result.
  10. OK buddy, always backed ... to whose criteria?, yours or his?. dropped us in the shit? - really?. ripped the heart out of the club (again - really?). genuinely, I dont want to get off on the wrong footing with the forum but Mr T, you cant believe that emotional drivel, surely?
  11. of course he threw his toys out of the pram Mr Traf. To that point the man had performed virtual miracles. As I said earlier, fans (me included) were getting restless. What would you have him do? Ok, Mr G I understand, I need to produce a top 10 finish without any funds (relatively), every year (and when I dont I get sacked - or I chance it with a 'larger' club as a stepping stone to the Eng job) ... come one, lets be realistic. I would venture that most people don't dislike the man, or underrate him as a manager. We perhaps feel bitter that he moved on. But, in non footballing circles, we would and do all do the same. I am proud that he forged his reputation at our club. BTW, I don't have a problem with gartside's stance, though i dont know all the details, its just life (lets all hope an Oligarch fancies a 4 bed detached in Heaton eh) ... GT
  12. Hi, New poster here, but, long time lurker ... went to my first game in the early 80's, grew up within spitting distance of BP ... Fave times following the whites will always be early 90's, Rioch era in particular ... Spend a lot of time abroad so gave up my season ticket 2 yrs ago but will be renewing for 2011 / 12. Always follow the Whites in whatever way I can and particularly enjoy this forum, some very amusing people on here but also good insight for those of us who are away and cant get to all the games. Love the cultural references to 'Stringy watch' and and others. (Back street pubs is a current favourite - I am sure that the cobbled street of GL has 'end of street pubs' as well but maybe I dreamt that ...) anyway pals, will be looking to contribute more when I feel better qualified to comment on the OC revolution. Cheers, GT
  13. He got an interview with the FA panel that decides who is appointed the manager of England. By all accounts (including, I think, the FA's) he was the best prepared and gave the best interview - with the best 'blueprint' for development. They did not give him the job. Hardly having 'ideas above his station'. Naturally he was disapointed and thought his career was at a crossroads and could not progress with the (limited) ambition of Bolton - as he saw it. Hardly qualifies him to be the devil's sperm ... A decent proportion of posters on here would share a beer with him and go over the good times, I am sure ... As others have said, I will mourn the six points lost (don't give a shit about WHU) but I personally wish the fella all the best (afterall, like us, he refers to Bolton always as HIS club).
  14. There is a good article in The Sun today, whereby Arry R virtually ridicules the notion of West Ham being the Academy. Ref BSA. I personally have no issue with the man as most acknowledge the success he brought us. As a manager I can not see how is viewed as overrated. As a bloke I don't know how others found him but when I met him I found the guy to be pleasant enough but certainly very sure of himself. I think we appreciated those attributes when we were first promoted and little Bolton went up against the big boys. I agree that both he and Rioch left for their own benefit but I felt more let down by Rioch at the time as we really needed his management having just gained promotion. I think BSA's time at Bolton had maybe run it's course as he had higher ambitions and felt restricted by the finances and maybe we fans were getting a little restless with him so though it was his choice maybe it was in the interests of both him and the club.
  15. This is the first game I can properly recall going to, being lifted over the fence by my dad as it got tasty in the lever end. For some off reason I recall that it was our manager's birthday on the same day, George Mulhall I think ...
