Gartsides Plan

In the Sunday Mirror today gartsides plan to create a 2 tier premier league has been leaked this includes a plan to bring in Celtic and Rangers to the Premier league, I think this is a complete hair brained scheme I for one can think of no reason why I would be happy with Bolton settling for a place in level 2 of a so callled premier league, the journalist points out that this plan has Gartsides finger prints all over it and he comments that Gartside is the chairman of a club who regard survival as success, and have an empty existence playing functional football in an underpopulated stadium, harsh comments but quite possibly true, taking into account we have thrown F.A. cup games and a 1/4 game against sporting lisbon, his comments are spot on and are one of the main reasons apathy is begining to creep into the fans psyche.

I don't think that point can be argued with really can it?

Regarding talk of a two tier Premier League, with Rangers and Celtic in it, there is nothing new there I don't think. Either way, I don't see Rangers or Celtic ever being allowed to play in the English league

Gartside is the chairman of a club who regard survival as success

That goes for over half of the premiership teams

quality piece of input that Deano............you can at least explain why you think it's horseh*t

For what it's worth, I agree with Gonk. At the start of a season, the first thing on the mind of around 12 PL teasm, is how quickly they can attain safety and get to 40pts - therefore survival is seen as success, as that is the main aim at the start of the season.

Don't get me going on the Celtic/Rangers thing. But just because their names have been mentioned it means that plan will never happen, and thank fook for that.

Garside has just been slaughtered on Sunday supplement about this rediculous idea, and the comments they came out with is that Garsides reasoning behind this is to safe guard the future of BWFC and the rest can all go and fcuk themselves and that if this had been implemented 7/8 years ago BWFC wouldn't be in the prem today because under his ideas there will be no play offs.

Gartside is a cock and bringing unwanted critism to the club

Garsides reasoning behind this is to safe guard the future of BWFC and the rest can all go and fcuk themselves

Then he's doing his job. Personally I don't like the Rangers/Celtic thing, but a 2-tier Prem would at least mean football could be attractive again and have something to play for every year........ which is what the moaners on here want isn't it?

He's looking out for his own... exactly what he should be doing.

I agree. The 'big' teams have been looking after their own backs for decades and that's why the gulf between the have's and have not's is getting bigger and bigger. It doesn't suprise me one bit that the hacks on the Sunday Suppliment are giving Gartside the thumbs down. Even though this idea might be a none starter maybe throwing ideas around might create some sort of debate and change.

did they say the same when the big boys voted to keep all their gate money

did they say the same when the big boys created the prem

did they say the same when the big boys caused the creation of the 'non' champions league

Already got a second tier its called the championship.

do you have a clue what this thread is about?

what gartside is actually trying to achieve?

I understand Gartside looking after his own but a division with no relegation, if it happens then count me out. That will be it for me with pro football. No matches, no sky, no interest you can keep it. I will go and watch Parks football to fill the gap. Also despite being a Rangers sympathiser I don't want them anywhere near English football. They need us not the other way round. And don't get me started on the other mob who think hating Britain/England is part of their culture, why on earth should they be allowed anywhere near English football? Money maybe, but like I said count me out.

I followed Bolton down to the fourth division and back. To take away that dream for others will kill football. We are not a poxy minority sport like Rugby. The more I hear about Gartsides idea, the more I hate it even if (and even because) I know where he's coming from.

Was nt questioning gartsides logic, was just pointing out that there are about 15 clubs in the championship that at one time or another have played in the top flight. if it aint broke don t fix it

Not wrong there Cas, its been broke a good while too.

IMO I'd let Aresnal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Munich fuck off and play in a european league.

I honestly think doing this will not devalue the Premier league.

Apart from promoted teams the "thrill" of playing the clubs is not there any more.

We can't fill the ground for them.

If the big 4 did leave, then the PL would be devalued in the fact that most of the sponsorship money would dry up, Sky certainly wouldn't be ploughing billions of pounds into it..........I'm not saying that's a bad thing though

No devalue to the Prem without the big 4 clubs?

It's to be hoped, then, that all the Portsmouth v Bolton, Boro v West Ham, etc. games don't get shown at the same time as a Man U v Real Madrid or Barcelona v Arsenal game!

They won't go, though, because of the money they make from the Prem.

To suggest Tottenham,West Ham and Newcastle go into seasons happy to finish 4th bottom is laughable.

I also doubt whether Middlesbrough,Blackburn,Portsmouth and Sunderland would have taken 4th bottom in July either.

anybody who thinks gartside isn't right in doing what he thinks is best for bolton is a cock

I think you need to remember where we've come from and realise that if we weren't in the position we are in Gartside wouldn't even entertain this idea and for folk who have very short memories and think we're garanteed prem football every year is a cock.

Of those 7 teams you've named, I reckon many of them would grab 4th bottom now if it was guaranteed.

Slight change to your wording and I'd be giving you the thumbs up mate.

"I think you need to remember where we came from and realise the position we are in is largely down to Gartside and his ideas. Folk have very short memories and should note that we have had an extended stay in the Premier League under his stewardship" :good:

Be careful what you wish for Gartside.

If the two tier Prem allows invitations to Celtic and Rangers what is to stop them replacing teams playing in underpopulated stadiums with the likes of Leeds, Sheff Weds, Forest.
