Well as you say, I'd want the best available and I'm not 100% certain he is. Miles better than Hill though and been dealt a shit hand in the jobs he's taken. Personally I'd be happy having him but know there's probably more appropriate choices for the task at hand and level we'll be at.
-
I still rate Gary Bowyer to be fair, been dealt some shit with the jobs he's taken on. Never should have taken the Blackburn job in the first place though, he had reservations from the beginning that came to be realised, then took what came with his further jobs at car crash clubs. Not that I'm saying I'd have him but he'd do more of a job than Hill.
-
Past the point now, he's had his chance with literally no pressure and managed to somehow get an expected relegation wrong. All whilst completely flapping and generally just being a nutter, he doesn't deserve the chance next season, if anything the next manager deserves the time this season to create a footballing philosophy around the place.
-
The tide appears to be well and truly turning now. I get the thought process behind giving him time but he's showing nothing, no signs of progress or developing an ethos for the team. He's lost all that good will and his coaching, especially defensively, is clearly inept. Time to move on I think and give someone a chance who actually has a plan and footballing philosophy to build for next season.
-
Yeah that doesn't appear to be mentioned enough, he's a professional athlete, if a bit of criticism after objectively poor performances are hurting his feelings then I'm not sure he's going to get very far.

I believe the author of said article will be here to fight his corner shortly... I've contributed to the site once or twice, I think what I would say is that it's not a place with one sole purpose or view, there are lots of contributors with varying views and that can be a bit confusing but I don't mind it as a platform in the main but it can obviously give some bad opinions a much wider audience than they deserve on occasion.

Heading to Utrecht in May for a tournament on Kings Weekend? I believe it's some sort of national holiday but know nothing about it, anyone know if with it being a day off nationally on the Monday whether going out in Dam is the answer or if Utrecht itself will have plenty to offer?

I gave it a go, I think I'm a fan, once you get past the distinct lack of quality compared to NFL football it's an enjoyable watch. The main issue is definitely the quality of the defensive options available, I think there's going to be a fair amount of high scoring games.

He really isn't, gets lost ball watching, not as good ball at his feet, not as athletic. Sure Zouma can look a little bit chaotic at times but the potential is definitely there, I'd rather put time and effort into seeing what we had there than giving games to an on loan 27 year old that's never done much. Darcy was a separate point about how toothless the midfield is with the ball, they need someone in there to make stuff happen whilst we're in possession, currently we operate too often as three distinct lines, it's predictable and easy to breakdown. Unfortunately it's irrelevant as he was apparently injured anyway.
-
Nsiala is no better than Zouma, it baffles me the decisions and judgements Hill has made with some of these young players that could be special or at the very least assets for us. Darcy as well has been alienated and I think he could add a lot to that midfield in terms of relieving pressure and linking between the lines.

I really really hope we beat these after the way they went on after the postponed game early in the season.

That's fair, I don't know how I'd react to them, been a Jets fan nearly 10 years now but I think a London team would probably have a soft spot with me and I'd be happy going down there to watch their games, even more so if it was a Jets game. Likely for me at least though that they would be playing the Jets as there'd be some sort of Division reshuffle, probably with your team swapping with them into the South.
-
I'm all for a London team and Jacksonville obviously makes the most sense to be the relocated team, lots to work out for the league logistically though before any headway is made. I imagine players will have a lot to say about it, especially considering ones currently on the team or that will inevitably being drafted will have a lot to say about relocating to another country, the tax implications and the travel involved for the visiting teams. Would definitely need a rebrand though, Jaguars ain't gunna fly with me, Monarchs maybe or the Madden game suggests Black Knights which I prefer but still wouldn't be ideal. Something like Knights, Spitfires or maybe something nautical would get my vote.

Not that it's the same but there's a National league for the non-contact version over here as well, I play in it, it's a good time. Cheaper and safer alternative whilst still tactically having a similar feel. I love the sport on the whole and have for years now, I'd play it at the highest level I could if it wasn't so expensive to kit up and insure, the safety side of things does concern me as well to be fair. I don't fancy weekly concussions.
-
Teams in Europe do love a token American though don't they.
-
Not sure I agree with this one, felt like Bridcutt (along with Crawford) was our style of play. No coincidence perhaps that since they've been unavailable we've been far worse.
-
I like the optimism of giving the lad an excuse... I think he might just be a bit shit though.
-
Agree entirely with all of this. Remember when we were signing these players and fans, managers and owners in this league were fuming because we were assembling players capable of higher than this level. Now look at us, a promising start and a semi-decent squad wasted.
-
Tired of this narrative. That hangover can't last forever, we need to build new foundations not dig ourselves into deeper holes.
-
I'm not so sure, I think he's just completely lost himself and decides not to play the ball because it's in that corridor, but everything about it is bad. Poor first header from Nsiala, second ball doesn't get challenged even though Edwards and the LB could both do so, midfielder then commits unnecessarily and gets drifted past, Nsiala fumbles the challenge after that and then Edwards watches the ball go straight across the 6 yard box despite being able to comfortably control it if he needed. Honestly, I'd be embarrassed seeing that in a Sunday league fixture.
-
We live in hope. With regards to upper tier consultation, not to open that can of worms again but, should have been done from the beginning.
-
I said earlier, comfortably the worst defending I've ever witnessed at a professional level.Edwards was particularly bad but the whole sequence from everyone involved was diabolical.
-
I liked Parkinson, the football as said at times was beyond tedious but at least it was effective, especially at this level. As it is now though I do think it's unfair to compare them directly, partly because of differing financial models and completely different expectations. It is worrying though that the expectations for Hill's tenure were so low and yet he's still not managed to reach them all whilst completely flapping in the process. Plus a vs idea isn't really helpful seeing as PP cut and run (completely fairly and deservedly I will say), not like we really had a choice between the two. Nolan v Hill though, that'd be one to give some thought now we've seen the reality of one of the outcomes.

I would have been content judging him next season if he hadn't been such a car crash in a season that was essentially a gimme. Could have used this time to build up young players, get his footballing philosophy across, begin the rebuild and show the fans, potential investors and potential signings what we're trying to achieve. Instead he's alienated some of the young players and misused others, lost all sense of a footballing plan, taken us backwards and lost a fairly significant majority of fans in the process. I think any more time given to him is wasted.
