  1. On this date last season Wrexham had 40 points. I'd take being shit if we were winning every week. As it is, we're 5th and not winning every week, so I think it's fair enough that people aren't getting carried away by beating 10-man Mansfield. We've been unconvincing (to say the least) away from home all season and that hasn't changed even if the result was better this time. It'll take a few more of these before you can say we've turned a corner. Obviously, if there are things to work out it's better to find a way to win while we do so. And I also think there are areas SS will look to improve in January.
  2. Yeah, I wasn't making any comment either way on his quality, just that I think it's an important month for him and Cissokho. If they're still on the fringes of things come January, I could see us looking to use what we're spending on their wages elsewhere.
  3. He scored against Wigan but has started two of the last six league games. In those he was hooked after an hour when we were losing/drawing games we went on to win. Has been limited to 10min cameos since. I'm not saying he's shit, but if he still has a good goals per min ratio it's only because his minutes have been trending downwards for the past month.
  4. This next month is shit or get off the pot time for Cissokho and Forss - a pretty easy way to open up funds in January is to send back fringe players on first team wages. Hopefully they can at least start making an impact off the bench. In theory both should be more than useful at this level but it hasn't happened yet.
  5. The other strikers at the time were Charlie Warren and Big Dave. It's inconceivable that we weren't going to sign anyone else until Dalby got injured.
  6. We were planning to go through the season with Sam Dalby as the only centre forward?
  7. I don't doubt it, but there are plenty of people getting paid to watch football morning, noon and night who make bad decisions and get things wrong all the time. Anyone who could genuinely get a proper steer on a football team from a highlights show would be worth billions in today's game. It's entertaining to watch and chat shit about football, but everyone should be aware of the fact that none of us know anything really.
  8. Anyone who'd willingly watch League One football for the sake of being 'correct' on the internet (we're all just guessing based off limited knowledge, even when you're 'right' it's probably just luck) is obviously mental. However, your debate with masi is probably a moot point because my guess is Tutu won't start the majority of our games from this point.
  9. He needs to show something, anything, before I'd worry about changing what others do to suit his supposed strengths. I wouldn't rule out him scoring the odd important goal here or there when we're chasing a game, but we badly need another option up front. Generally he's looked exactly like a bloke who would've been fourth choice target man at Wrexham.
  10. The jury should definitely still be out on Gale - but he was signed for (relatively) big money and showed against Wigan that his ceiling is very high. He'll rightly come back into the side when fit and get a good run at it. If he isn't up to it, then we'll look to strengthen again in January (I expect we will anyway - and send Cissokho back). Great if Tutu played well yesterday and great that he's now up to a goal involvement every 10 appearances for us, I just don't see us ever settling for him as one of our starting wingers for any length of time.
  11. Cardiff are at 2ppg. Stevenage are at 1.93ppg. I'm obviously not saying we're adrift, but this team have been hypothetically top of the league since September and yet in real life we're still 6th. In 10 games time I'd like to see us right up there for real, not harking on about how we're one result away (if we ban everyone else from playing a game or two) or that teams with more points don't count (because Bet365 don't rate them). And if we are top two in ten games time, we'll have had much better results along the way than a draw against a middling Luton side. That's all I'm saying about it not being a 'good result' in isolation, it's only worth anything if it's a precursor to better ones.
  12. I just can't fully go along with the 'good point' notion, because that only applies if we weren't playing catch-up. It's not a bad result either, I just need us to get to the bit where we're not just staying in touch and waiting for better results in the future. Luton are 14th on home form this season, so I don't know whether they're being slightly overrated too.
  13. To be fair even accounting for the fact that he'd had a couple of attempts at promotion already, the majority of Bolton fans were probably still on Evatt's side at this exact point. And many did fancy us to go on a run. From the start of Dec through to him being sacked we won three out of 10, including Wigan at home and getting twatted by Rotherham on TV. If we go on another bad run from here, SS will be getting plenty of stick too.
  14. I think it's probably about par considering how we've performed across the season. Nothing really to get worked up or excited about. Overall to take 8 points from a run of Huddersfield-Cardiff-Bradford-Luton is pretty good. But we're entering December in 6th.
  15. He wasn't in the team for his defending and had plenty of opportunity to get forward. The player who led the team in assists last season is a wing back. He doesn't have the end product to be a viable attacking option. And at 27 he likely never will. He's fast and can play in a few positions so he has value, but I'd never be starting him ahead of Gayle or even Cissokho.
  16. Tutu has played 40 league games for us and has one goal and two assists. Fine as cover but he shouldn't be starting for a side looking to win the league.
  17. Bradford had a bit of Derby about them. It might not always look amazing but they'll win a lot of games. And to be fair to them, they showed a decent amount of intent throughout that second half when they always knew a point was a good result. If we finish above them this season at all - never mind by 10-15 points - I think we'll win promotion.
  18. That's fine when we're chasing a game against a team camped in their own area who'll just let us launch cross after cross. In an even game his strength (singular) is outweighed by his weaknesses. He slows down our fast breaks and his attempts to shoot with his feet have been embarrassing. Humphrys must just hate us and be shit against everyone else, but his all round game leading the line was miles ahead of anything Dalby has shown.
  19. Agree with the general sentiment that we were well on top in the first half and it was an even second. Think both managers will be happy enough with a draw. Given we've tended to not win these type of games at home but lose away, feels a bit of a missed opportunity. But it's clear this season will be a battle for promotion rather than us (or anyone else) running away with it. In games we aren't losing I'd say bringing Dalby on is a negative. Need better competition for Burstow in Jan.
  20. We weren't good enough to beat those teams at home and (with the sole exception of Wigan last season) we weren't good enough to beat them away either. There's nothing mystical about it.
  21. Derby - 3,139 Wrexham - 3,668 Barnsley - 2,064 Is there a specific number of away fans, beyond 3,668, which result in certain defeat?
  22. From those 10 top attendances we took 11 points. In the away games against the same teams in the same season we took 5 points from 9 games (haven't played Wigan away yet this season). It is a narrative.
  23. We did twat Sunderland, beat Derby, draw to Wrexham and even though we lost against Barnsley in the playoffs I doubt their fans considered it a great night out. At this level (outside of Carlisle which was a weird one) well supported teams are generally among the better teams in the division. I'm not sure how many away fans there are affects our performance. And there's probably a bit of bias in the fact that us losing when the away end is packed lives longer in the memory then when we lose and it's empty (and that's happened plenty in the last five years too). Anyway, it'll be a fantastic atmosphere, a great occasion. And if their best player is still Antoni Sarcevic how good can they be?
  24. That's that settled then. Fucking hell.
  25. It's all possible, I'm not arguing that he wants to leave or is going to. It's just people's certainty on here I find a bit baffling. I've never met ACD and haven't the slightest idea what any of the clubs involved think. How could anyone on here? He's not our player and he's played the last month like he's the best in this division by miles. Until Feb 1st hits, there's always a very clear chance that someone else might take him off us. And BWFC have no say in that. If you listened to Newcastle fans at the start of the summer, or Middlesbrough fans a two weeks ago, it was all the same stuff. 'He'll not leave', 'why would he want to go there', 'surely he wants to finish the job' etc. Next thing you know they're crying on Talksport. Better to be prepared for this stuff.
