I know a few Udders fans and they are all reasonable and fair in their assessments and praise of us when deserving.. don’t get me wrong still plenty of banter between us as you would expect! I think we are two very similar clubs and we’ve both shared one of the finest managers we’ve ever had in Ian Greaves 👍

I think we’ll now see what SS is really made of, no way he can defend that performance. He needs to make some big decisions over the next few days and get us properly up for Udders. He managed it for Wigan but hasn’t done since. He managed it for Birmingham but didn’t afterwards for the rest of last season.. A big rethink over the way he sets us up and style of play is now required. Good managers bounce back from adversity and he now needs to stand up and say that was not acceptable!

I think it’ll come, we have the best squad we’ve had since being back in league 1. Serious competition for every position. Whether it’s the best squad in the division I have no idea. SS seems a genuine grounded guy who I would want to try and do well for.. as long as the pressure doesn’t get to him and he starts making rash decisions or comments I think he is strong enough to tweak the areas that need tweaking and get us up to where we should be. He made a lot of changes in the summer and it’s understandably taking time to bed it all in. Keep the faith!

I was at that match, only 12 at the time. I remember being kept in the ground and had my name taken by the police. the lad who ‘did’ it went to my School, he was expelled but allowed back after the trial collapsed.. we all looked at him with a certain amount of fear afterwards. He tried to keep his head down but was a target for some lads who wanted to have a go!

There were times today that I found it tedious and other times I was on the edge of my seat.. the result was never in doubt and when it totally clicks and SS has worked out his best starting eleven I think we’ll be a real force. The defence still gives the opposition more opportunities than it should but I think finally we have a squad that will/should get us out of this shit league 🤞

Good performance against a very Evatt like team.. did they ever test Teddy? Relieved those days are over for us. 😮‍💨 we’re more organised and balanced, don’t mind not having the ball but want to win it back quickly after losing it. Finally playing with proper wingers who can change/win games. No longer a soft underbelly. Simons cool, no nonsense type we’ve been lacking and Erhahon will be a beast when match fit. Early days yet , but we didn’t deserve to lose last week and definitely deserved a win today. This team has potential and we might yet have a squad and manager that is built in the Bolton way. 🤞

It’s weird, but when I played (school & pub footie) I never wore shin pads, only because I hated them and didn’t feel comfy wearing ‘em.. I did get a lot of nasty whacks though 🥴 I was obviously ahead of the game 40yrs ago ! 🤣
