Decent point IMO. However. I really haven't got a clue about 'Brand Evatt' - is it pressing, passing football or is it pass between the keeper & defenders for a while and then just hoof it. I honestly can't see anything that Evatt is improving or a 'specific' brand of football that he's trying to implement or coach, is it just me ? can everyone else see something good in how we play that I can't ? BTW that headed miss from Jones was shocking, it was harder to miss than score.
-
By the way what actually is Brand Evatt ?
-
I rated Taylor and I also highly rate Declan John.

1975 v Sunderland at Burnden, Big Sam bullet header from a corner - massive 42,000 crowd.

I think that a lot of the issues are related to a lack of intensity & tempo, Evatt's possession based football is much less effective if the passing is slow. The team looks a lot better when they move the ball faster, up the tempo and play with intensity, which is what they tend to do in the last 20 mins of games when losing and chasing the game. I also don't know why they have recently started games so slowly, they are supposedly the fittest team in the league so surely they should be able to play at a quicker tempo and with more intensity for more than 20 mins a game ? - go for it at the start get the first goal, it takes the pressure off and lets them play with a bit more freedom.
-
I'm sorry but I'm honestly struggling to see where I said this.
-
Yes you read it wrong - trying your best to discredit others posts like you try to do.
-
Many don't go to every game any more, but they have been to as many as you have over the years - many prefer to chat over a pint in the pub before or after a game what's wrong with that ? can they only discuss things in the stadium ?
-
Feel free to point out where I said more loyal etc. ?
-
Many of the lads I know well & talk to spilt blood and some did serious time supporting the whites over the years, loyal as fuck and who love BWFC but many don't bother with forums etc (several used to a few years ago) - you may probably know some of the same lads. This is the best BWFC forum by some distance, but believe me it isn't reflective of the wider fan base. Your 'grown up' comment is a bit daft IMO - we don't all have to agree or do we if we are to be classed as grown up ?
-
Gonzo, you are one of the better posters on here, but seriously go into the pubs in Bolton and talk to the lads from the 80's, 90's & early 00's who do a lot of the better aways and most (not all), don't rate Evatt, and these are loyal BWFC fans over many years. Are these the sad bunch and who are the grown ups, just the ones who back Evatt ?
-
In the pub you boring twat.

Got told this afternoon in the pub that next season Neil Hart is going to offer a last 20 mins / 2nd half season ticket at a much reduced cost, as that's the only time that the team start to play & compete.

Heads up for some, do not dare criticise Evatt. He's the chosen one didn't you know. Have some patience he'll get it right after another 3-4 transfer windows he will improve us in some way shape or form, and in 2025 we may be in a position to seriously challenge to get out of League 1. Anyone expecting anything else just crawl back under your stone.
-
So is Evatt.
-
Aye alright, alternative opinions welcome eh !

What is this ?, I said that I don't like his arrogance it doesn't mean that I don't like him generally as a person, although not so much as a manager - you just pick on a word or a sentence to back up your argument. I actually know who you are & I didn't think you were like this - its bordering on an obsession defending IE, no one can criticise or say anything negative about him without this type of response.
-
Personality transplant was probably the wrong phrase to use, perhaps a change of mindset would have been better, however IMO he does need to change. To improve as a manager he needs to stop being so stubborn & also thinking that he's the Guardiola of League 1, I admire his self belief but he has an arrogance about him that I don't like, he rarely admits that he's done anything wrong and dismisses most of the criticism against him. It's almost like its his way or no way and he won't listen to anyone who disagrees with him. Yes he's young & he's learning, but to keep repeating the same 'stubborn' mistakes week after week doesn't strike me like a person who wants to learn & develop more like a person who believes that he already good & knows what he's doing.
-
Not after an argument, but surely some of you can see that he was wrong selecting Williams, Lee & Sheehan in midfield against an Oxford side that Evatt post match said are one of the hardest running teams in the league. I've absolutely no idea behind his reasoning & thought process in making that decision.
-
He is a young manager, and I do agree that he may well become a decent / top manager. However for me it's about getting out of League 1 asap (I'm also sure that you said 'we don’t want to be in this division though, let’s hope it’s good enough to take us up'). I understand that others are more patient (to be honest I wish that I was). I appreciate that we are 6th which is great and there is some progress I admit, but for me this last 6 games against teams that are mostly near the bottom has highlighted that he still has a lot to learn & to me has highlighted his naivety - in regards to team selection, tactics, nous etc. It's probably just me being impatient & it is just my personal opinion and I may well be wrong.
-
Mounts, you are wrong I don't dislike Evatt at all. I just don't have the same admiration for him as a manager that some others have. People should be allowed to have differing opinions should they not ? we all want the club / team to succeed. I have no issue with the many fans who think that he's a good manager, he's not a bad manager its simply that I don't think that he's as good as some others think.
-
Unless Evatt has a personality transplant we won't be getting out of League 1 anytime soon IMO. As I've said previously 'he' thinks that he's better than he actually is - also when he 1st came in he said that his teams constantly press & are fitter than other teams, where has this gone ? In the summer we desperately (IMO) needed some physicality & steel in midfield - did he bring someone in like this (No), we also needed a proper goal scorer (Evatt said that he had lots of quality strikers offered to him, and he was apparently stunned by the quality of players offered), what did he do he kept faith with our current strikers of which none are prolific. The team needs more physicality, a couple of tough players who hate losing and will lead by example - but it appears that Evatt doesn't see it like that, what was really telling yesterday in his post match presser was that he said that Oxford are possibly the most energetic team in the league - yet he plays the slowest & softest midfield that he could. I've no issue with fans who think that he's great, but unfortunately I haven't seen anything in his signings, tactics, or ideology to believe the same. Recently we have been found out and some of the lesser teams in this league as one or two others have said, have out fought & out thought us and wanted it more than us. As it stands we are a decent top 10 team, but not a team capable of getting promoted from this league unless he brings in some physicality and improves the spine of the team.

Yawn....just fuck off you boring wart.
-
Seriously, your punt is way out - my first BWFC game was in 76 and I've followed BWFC home & away ever since, I'm as loyal as the next man, I just don't follow this admiration of all things Evatt but do carry on....
