"Difficult to say, that's the job of the GP I guess" Repeat... That said, better than a waiting room full of foll coughing their spleen everywhere.

If it can wait, you get one in a week or two. If it's essential to be seen quickly, they'll see you that day. That's the difficulty- makes you feel a bit awkward, though I've no doubt some folk will insist they're at death's door.
October 2, 20232 yr At ours you tell the receptionist your name and that you want to see a doctor, the duty GP is there at 08:00 am every morning

October 2, 20232 yr Two options at my GPs Either call in at 8am or use the app which is my option as the oldies don’t know how to.

October 2, 20232 yr Here we go. More GPs now at my surgery, together with the federation set up. Yes there are too few doctors, but there are also a heck of a lot more people. Covid changed the workplace for many, and GPs are no different. It was the BMA who voted to restrict the number of doctors trained each year too. https://www.bmj.com/content/337/bmj.a748 What this lot have been guilty of is not standing up to unions sooner.
October 2, 20232 yr How do the BMA restrict the number of GPs being trained? GPs spend too much time not GP ing and that may be part of the reason theres not enough Folk dont want to be a partner anymore, not when they can charge premium as a locum and have friday off And receptionists are on minimum wage to put up with some awful abuse Ill share more in 12 months when somebody i know gets out of the game she describes as totally broken, after 35 years There are other issues than a shit govt obviously, not least the increased demands My leg would be hanging off before i bothered em, others are in and out for something to do
Easier getting an audience with the pope.
