Yes, you need a switch, there's 5, 8, 16, 24 and 48 port ones. Amazon are doing a TP-Link TL-SG105S 5 port switch for £13. Cable from virgin box to switch will leave you with 4 ports. So it isn’t the case where the router puts out X amount of ‘stuff’, split it and the output through each port is 50%. Split five ways and each gets 20%.
