Virgin router only has 3 wired outs and theyre all used, before i get to sky and the telly

I dont really like wireless so can i buy something so i can increase the wired outs?

Yes, you need a switch, there's 5, 8, 16, 24 and 48 port ones.

Amazon are doing a TP-Link TL-SG105S 5 port switch for £13.

Cable from virgin box to switch will leave you with 4 ports. You can add a switch on to a switch if that makes sense.

So it isn’t the case where the router puts out X amount of ‘stuff’, split it and the output through each port is 50%. Split five ways and each gets 20%.

id have thought it the other way

each lead 'demands' some stuff

ask for too much and it gets messy

one of my outputs is to some hive box, one to a sonos speaker, one to a signal booster

just want to get sky wired again, though tbf its been ok and tbf, theyre only a foot apart

In the grand scheme you won't see any loss of speed.

You can do lots with switches, especially managed ones, I'll stop there and won't bore you  🙂

Make sure it’s a switch and not a hub, so that data only goes where requested and not broadcast to all ports.
