Isa's

Hello! I'm looking to put the maximum amount in an ISA, 20K, just wanted something that pays some interest monthly, don't really know where to start to be honest, I guess 4% would be a decent return? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I used MoneyBox which seemed decent enough

Do it quite quickly.

It appears that Rachel is now looking at hugely cutting the ISA allowance from £20,000 to £4,000.

As an aside, you can have more than one ISA, so is it worth considering one with more flexibility/lower interest with one that has a higher rate but penalties for dipping in too often?

I’ve got two with St James Place

Stocks and shares is returning 6.5%

Cash one is returning 8%

Happy with those performances at the moment

Not the total allowance just capping the amount that can be invested in Cash ISAs to £4k. Seems to be based on a recommendation from fund managers, unsurprisingly.

Ta.

Still restricts investor's options though.

No it does, and not surprising it has come from the fund managers, as CASH ISAs are not that lucrative

What would people recommend for one you want to be withdrawing from regularly? Any that are worth it?

Oh aye, I can the "logic" behind it, I'm just a little uneasy : there would have to be some protections in place.

Apparently, Martin Lewis has already had to issue a warning to concerned folk to leave their cash alone, and not withdraw it in panic.

That's on top of folk wrongly taking lump sums out of pensions.

I can also see a scenario whereby very slowly,  the amount money sloping off into savings accounts gradually increases, which may have the opposite effect. Difficult to stop folk feeling nervous, whether it's justified or not.

Use the link above for best current rates, or speak to your own bank.

I went into our mortgage provider a few months back, and dragged my lad there to make sure he got one sorted!

👍

 hope your lads doing alright

As in another thread on here, best thing I ever did was contact an IFA years ago. He’s consolidated pensions and tried to get me in the best position for my impending retirement in a few years. For any spare cash that I have he’s got me in the mindset of…..

Anything that I know that I have spare regularly at the end of the month that I absolutely know that I don’t need to call on - stick it in a pension

Anything that I have spare that I probably don’t need to call on - stick it in an ISA

Anything that I have spare that I might need to call on - stick it in a savings account

I treat my ISAs a bit like my pensions and think longer term with them

I’m nowhere near the £150K club on here so put small amounts into each every month

Try Aldermore

Put mine in a 5 year cash ISA at 4% and get interest paid to my current account monthly

Wish I'd bought shares in defence companies as the war kicked off!

During covid, flights dropped off.

Servicing of planes etc dropped off.

Rolls Royce shares dropped off.

My IFA bought £10k of shares.

They doubled not long after!

100% growth- beat that. 😁
