Paintballing

Struggling for a last min gift for a few mates (aging 47-63), we used to play football but all dropping off. Was thinking of this to include me, my lad and a couple of more young uns. Anyone have any comments, suggestions? Not all as mobile as once were, but can they still do it? Ringley Woods/Worsley?

 TIA

Took my lad and a load of his mates for his 13th birthday this year. I don't know what they've changed or why they've done it, but modern paintballs hurt like fuck. When I went a few times in my 20's, you knew you'd been hit - sometimes you even got a bruise - but the paintballs were fairly soft and always burst on impact. You could pop one with your fingers. The ones they use today are like fucking marbles. Kids crying all over the place, going home with massive welts and lumps, some even drew blood. It put them all right off (including me), and I felt like a cunt dropping them off at their parents afterwards.

As for being mobile, it doesn't really matter. As long as you can jog a few feet to hide behind a pile of tyres or a wooden fence, you're reet.

Jesus, sounds rough that! I've not been for years but it hurt quite enough even back in the day!

First time I ever went was mid 90s a few of us young kids for a birthday party. This one older bloke turned up on his own wearing customised military gear and brought an automatic paintball machine gun with a laser sight on it, the fucking gimp. The staff made loads of the games everyone v just him so he could get a pelting. He shot me in the head.

Haha. That reminds me of a bloke I used to work with years ago who'd bring his own equipment to every social event. Pool cue and darts I can almost understand, but he even brought his own bowling ball to one Christmas do! 😂

Paintballing is class, even better if you have a knobber in the group who you can all aim for. Clay pigeon shooting is still going in Worsley I think, that’s decent. Failing that go dogging.

I'd want to keep hovering over the machine returning the balls and picking it up to use myself, cant imagine it going down too well 😀

We had a similar experience. Although did enjoy the day. A mates wife had booked a works do and a few dropped out so we went on a freebie. We were a group of about 15, out of a total of say 20. All there getting briefed when the other 5 turned up. In an old school military jeep. All in their own gear , own guns. Every game they had different tactics and basically battered us. They bought extra bombs etc. At first it was funny but just got boring, even worse for the 5 who had been put on their side and were basically instructed on what to do.
Eventually the Marshalls starting helping us, still got beat but at least a few of them got shot and a couple caught wiping paint off. Highlight was the biggest twat was captured by our base and I had my gun about an inch from his back when he surrendered, but my gun went off by ‘accident’. Must have left a massive bruise, the marshal said he misssd it all, although he was looking straight at me laughing when it happened.

Christ, must be over 30 years ago now !

Went with Yoof when he was younger with his mates and they a new rule where if you gun was jammed you just shouted ‘bang’ and it counted which just seemed weird.
