Provide balence or even balance all you want as long as it's factual and not just FUD. The iPod is a great piece of kit. I work in an office full of geeks and about half of us have one. If there was anything better out there, everyone would buy one of them almost immediately. It's not the cheapest, you can get something as good for a few quid less. Not everyone loves iPods, each to their own etc. but I like mine. If that means I don't know what I'm talking about, I was programming my ZX81 when you were running round in shitty nappies.
June 21, 200521 yr My son got the Creative Zen and the battery life was crap (< 3 hours). He got it replaced, and that was the same, so he got an ipod mini. Scan do the creative quite cheap if you are still interested
June 21, 200521 yr well congratulations on your office, but if those people were interested in technological bang for their buck, they wouldn't have ipods i'm very happy to admit they're pretty, and if that's what you want, fair enough, but in terms of capacity for the price, and extra features for the price, it's just a plain no contest i'm off now, but before i go there is such a thing as an incorrect opinion; my philosophy tutor woulc lay a ragging egg if he heard people saying there wasn't as anything other than a joke this is a situation of testable fact; creative labs and other brands offer more kit for your money, ipod trades on excellent branding and it's fashion icon status, in order for everyone else to compete they simply have to beat them in other catagories cya lads, try to calm down a bit, it's a music player, don't let it give you a hernia
June 21, 200521 yr I'd much rather be able to say "jus listenin to my ipod" than "just listenin to my Creative Zen MP3 player that's just as good if not better than an ipod, honest". my ipod plays music.... looks good.... has good extras (I've got a speaker set, remote headphones) and works bob-on.
June 21, 200521 yr Objectively, Creative Zen looks fine and is cheaper than an iPod. If I was buying now, it would be a serious contender. I'd have to check sound quality, .WAV compatibility, usability, battery life, extras e.g. firewire cable/USB2 cable, charger etc. first though.

June 21, 200521 yr I bought an mp3 player that doesnt hold that many songs, and apparently could have bought an IPod shuffle for ??10 more!! dont use it that much though, normally just when I'm on train to Bolton on a wednesday! dont feel that safe walking down a street listening to it, but then my headphones arent the bright white ones like you get with an I-pod!

June 21, 200521 yr might be selling my ipod 20gb.. with speakers and full of songs ( all be it my own ) pm me if your interested.. ipods are superior to the others from a retail and a users view.. carlos is right in saying that people who know things buy ipods.. thats why at work we have sold hundreds of them.. and about 5 creative ones... theres also phillips mp3 players.. just to add.. i encode my mp3's with cdex.. not with i tunes.. still works fine
June 21, 200521 yr personally, I think there are better players around than iPods, but folk want the look. I've got a little 1GB mpMan player - holds about 20-25 albums - swap 'em round every couple of weeks or so - no problem. cheaper and much lighter than buying 20GB player. btw - Swanny - how much do you want for it?
June 24, 200521 yr Got an iPod mini, ae they are nice looking and hold way more tracks than you need, 1000 songs who needs that many, got 235 on mine now i think, its more than enough. Don't feel that safe with it walking down the street with it in my ears with the bright and shiny earplugs, group of 17 year olds walk towards u, not the safest i must say. iPods, good for those people who have the money to spend, they are good for taking down to the gym, and listening to in the car, or on holiday, but to be honest, not had that much use out of it since February or so when I got it. Suppose there's no use-by date on them anyway.
