should we?

buy ellington if he refuse's to sign a new contract. i think we should, just the thought of rubbing those fookin pie eaters face's in the dirt and filth would be worth the fee alone.

I'm not sure about Ellington.

He 'proved' himself in the Championship, but that is against all of the championship defenders.

He isnt proven in the Premiership, could be a let-down, however could be a one season wonder (Ricketts springs to mind)

See how Ellington does in the Premiership first before jumping to conclusions about him.

Just look at the other mon they have up front, Roberts. Good in the Championship but wank in the Prem.

would he be on a free? if so, why not.

he's got 12 months left

whelan prob doesn't need to sell, but the stubborn owd git might do cos he's like that

see how he does?

maybe, and if he does well go after him and i doubt wages would ever be a problem, but he MAY get a better club

on balance, wouldn't go after him, and don't really think he'll hack it

IMO, neither Ellington nor Roberts will be Premiership quality. Then again nor will any Wigan Pathetic player be.

How many "proven" Premiership strikers can we afford though? Or how many are even available?

Everyone bangs on about lower league strikers and foreigners as not being proven; well if they were unfortunately we wouldn't be able to afford them and we certainly wouldn't be top of most of their "desirable club" list.

has pace and can finish, gamble or not?

Exactly, take Peter Crouch when he played at the Reebok for QPR back in our Div 1 days. He hardly set the place alight. Scored a goal, but stood out more for his height than his firepower. Now look at him - top clubs are chasing his signature.

Reckon I've seen him more than most on here. Sometimes watch Wigan when my girlfriend's Dad can't attend.

He reminds me very much of Nathan Blake with a far better attitude. Two good feet, can head the ball, works hard, doesn't concede possession easily. Decent pace but no more.

As to whether he'd be successful in the Premiership - no-one knows least of all me. At the right price, he'd be worth a punt.

You're surely not suggesting that Blake also had 2 good feet?

Blake did have two good feet.

The other 3 foot 10 was shite though! :D

seeing the zambian has gone maybe we will go for ellington.

Where is Camara now?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Ellington has a clause in his contract that says if any club offer ??1million for him he could go. I though we would have signed him last January.

Camara has gone back't Wolves - and Sam has said he's only after English players anyway 8-[

I think he's a better bet than Collins Mbesuma. However judging by what allardyce has said about money, why don't we go after Keane or Kanoute.

Robbie Keane is a good shout - read somewhere that he would be allowed to go for ??3M - would be an awesome signing for ??3M, however, don't think he would want to come to us - bein up north and 'not a fashionable club', and all that.

Keane and Diouf up front - deadly
