Eighty teams enter today's UEFA Cup first-round draw at 13.00CET in Monaco knowing they are just one tie from the competition's group stage.

 

Different routes

All 32 winners from the second qualifying round will go into the pots along with the 29 teams who received a bye to the first round, the three UEFA Intertoto Cup winners - Olympique de Marseille, RC Lens and Hamburger SV - and the 16 teams defeated in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.

 

Road to group stage

The teams are split into eight groups of ten teams, with five seeds in each pool to be drawn against any of the five unseeded clubs. The sides that emerge victorious from the two-legged ties, scheduled for 15 and 29 September, will then be split into eight pools of five, with the first of five group stage matchdays on 20 October.

 

CSKA defence

Holders PFC CSKA Mosvka and last season's finalists Sporting Clube de Portugal are among the teams in the draw. Eight future contenders will not yet take part - that octet will join the competition in the last 32 after finishing third in their respective Champions League groups. However, two of the three Fair Play entrants - 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Viking FK - are involved.

 

French sextet

There are three former European champions in draw - FC Steaua Bucuresti, Hamburg and Marseille, one of six French Ligue 1 sides in contention. The southern club are joined by Lens, AJ Auxerre, Stade Rennais, RC Strasbourg and AS Monaco FC - the team with the shortest journey to the Grimaldi Forum. Group 1: Seeded Unseeded

Been to St. Petersburg - cheapest flights last time were with Air France via Amsterdam.

Been to Plovdiv in Bulgaria - this has an airport - so less fcking about.

I know Debreceni switched their game with Utd to Budapest - but might not feel we are big enough to switch grounds.

 

Not a clue about the others. Nearest airports would come in handy if someone can post them on here - hopefully before the draw we will all know which flights we require and which airlines travel there. Anyone with contact in the travel industry could be a devil and book flights now for all five destinations on both dates - basically get them on hold. I may enquire myself.

Each group has five seeds (on the left) and five non-seeds (on the right) and each of the seeds will play one of the non-seeds from their group in this round.

 

 

The group one heading was not seperated from the text above it, that's all

 

 

I don't know, but I think it's very likely, that the five sides that progress in each group will also form the groups in the next stage.

 

Then 3 from each group go through and are joined by eight who drop out of the CL in the last 32...

Jules - unimportant at this stage. We know which five teams we may play. That's what counts. We need people online to work out the times, airlines, etc.
