I used to live near Ormskirk and played chess for Ormskirk and it's not that bad. There are some good pubs in Ormskirk and the parish church is the only church with both a tower and a steeple. I wonder how that is shown on an ordnance survey map.

Was in Hanley 5 or 6 years ago when it was Wetherspoons birthday and beers were extra cheap. Thhink it was a Tuesday or Wednesday night and the main Wetherspoons in Hanley was packed with Stoke's finest...anyway as Stoke is made up of a few smaller towns there's a fair bit of rivalry within n40 and the under 5's and a kick off was inevitable - you could literally smell it...

 

About 10pm a couple of mobs went at it big-style (one from Trentham - dunno about the others)...the 2 bouncers came in and got whalloped, then went back outside, shut the doors and let the lot ensue whilst calling all the other bouncers from Hanley down.

 

Even the birds were at it - fighting with smashed up chairs, chucking bottles etc.

 

The pub itself is big and has a huge staircase going up the middle to a circular-type balcony and at least half a dozen lads were chucked down the stairs.

 

THe best thing about Stokies is that they're so far behind the times - 5-6 years ago they looked and dressed like Oasis did in 1994. It's the ??rse end of the world.

 

The good news is that the birds are easy and mucky as owt - they won't just accept an insertion up the wrong'un they actively encourage it...
